Followup: copy-paste graphics from R to Word on Mac OS X
After trying numerous options, I'm just about at my wits end.
The most frequent suggestion was to export to a postscript or PDF file
and import that into Word.
However, no matter what I did or how I did it, the results were
extraordinarily ugly and somewhat time-consuming.
What I've tried so far:
1. Copy and paste from the R graphics output window into Word (in Mac
OS X), this is

PowerPoint
Dear All,
I am looking for the best way to use graphs from R (like xyplot, curve ...) for a presentation with powerpoint. I used to save my plot as pdf and after to copy them as image in powerpoint but the quality is not optimal by so doing.
Another completely independent question is the following: when I use "main" in the xyplot, the main title is very close to my plot,

Copy-paste graphics from R to Word on Mac OS X
Greetings:
I'm (very) new to R.
One of the features of R that I really like is R's ability to quickly
generate very good looking graphics. However, I've noticed that when I
attempt to copy and paste the graphs from the R graphics output window
into Word (in Mac OS X), the resulting picture is very jaggy.
I'm aware of the various options such as dev2bitmap, but I'd

Strange behaviour of R graphics copied to PowerPoint
Hello,
I am using R to create graphics, especially to plot time series charts.
These charts are then copied as metafiles (for best quality) to a PowerPoint
presentation and then saved to PDF (via the "Save As" dialog").
Attached is two pictures. The first picture shows how my chart looks like in
the R Graphics window, and the second picture shows how the chart becomes

Polycom 501 logo onscreen
Anyone know how (or if it's possible) to get a logo on the screen of
a Polycom 501?
I've been looking around for hints on how to do it but so far nothing
would indicate Polycom supports doing it.

PICT output?
hi, all. I use R on a unix (linux) box and am quite happy with it.
However, sometimes I need to create a graph that needs to be used with
Microsoft Word or Powerpoint (ug). I can create a png or jpeg format
picture, but the text look pretty crummy because jpeg is bitmapped. I
can also create a PS/EPS version (my preference), but then it doesn't
display properly in word or powerpoint (but it

Attachment_fu, Paperclip, & S3
For various reasons, I made a git branch and installed Paperclip in
place of attachment_fu. Paperclip works great except that images seem to
have lost some quality; edges have gone a little too jaggy to be able to
drop attachment_fu just yet. After a post on the Paperclip Google Group,
someone suggested the :convert_options could be passed additional
attributes, like ''quality'',

Problem with R-2.5.0 patched and Matrix package
Hi,
Using latest R 2.5.0 Patched, I'm unable to install the Matrix package
from cran.fhcrc.org.
I get:

Strange tick in ggplot geom_area; and ordering, again
In the area plots below, I see 4 triangle ticks at both sides of the bar; I
believe these are non-stacked values for p, but they are definitively
confusing.
In addition, I would like to get the order of the colors in the plot the
same as in the legend, and not arranged alphabetically (the factor is
ordered, don't touch my order). Hadley once mentioned an undocumented

RFC: adding an 'exact' argument to [[
Hi all,
One of the things I find most problematic in R is the partial matching
of names in lists. Robert and I have discussed this and we believe
that having a mechanism that does not do partial matching would be of
significant benefit to R programmers. To that end, I have written a
patch that modifies the behavior of "[[" as follows:
1. [[ gains an 'exact' argument with

And I would like to sort by the middle tag: AN, HA, etc.
Is there a way to parse text data in R?
In excel, I would have used the "left" and "right" function to cut out just
the middle two letters out and put into another

sample codes for writting a function with unknown number of arguments
Hi,
I need to scan some files, and then do a boxplot graph of them. I also save the output from the boxplot function, so I can process the data later.
For example, I need to scan 2 (it can be x, 0<x) files here.
A<-scan(F1)/100;
B<-scan(F2)/100;
Now let's try graph it. N1 is the label for F1, and so on.

trouble with cloud output to bmp when in loop
I have some data that I need to view in various 3-D clouds. To better see
the cloud structure on a 2-D screen I would like to output a bunch of bmp
files with clouds at slightly different angles, then run them through an
external program to animate them. But I'm having trouble getting cloud()
from the lattice package to output to bmp files. Oddly, this is only a
problem when outputting

Patch to fix ArtProvider and ArtProvider sample
These patches better implement ArtProvider and add the demo for it. I
also expanded the bigdemo window a little bit. I really think we should
go larger but I suppose there might be some people at 800x600 still.
Note that creating your own art provider still doesn''t quite work
correctly. I didn''t have time to get into that.
The RubyConstants.i.patch file looks weird. Not

no transparent background in bmp
I've been attempting to export a graphics file of my lattice plots and no
matter what color I use for the bg= argument in the bmp/jpeg/png function,
the background is grey.

pointsize=10, bg="transparent")
