Enright/Chi-square periodogram / periodicity
I am trying to compute the periodicity of a time series.
I would like to know which function in R does it.
Also, how do I plot a Enright / Chi-square periodogram using R ?
( Enright, J.T., 1965, Journal of Theoret. Biol. 8,426-468)
Greatly appreciate your help.
Thanks in advance,

Line plot with date-time on X-axis
Dear List,
What is the way in R to plot a graph having date time (e.g. format
12/31/2002 13:12) in the
x axis and numerical value (e.g. temperature) on the Y-axis ?
I could not get 'plot()' to do this as X axis values are non-numeric.
'bwplot()' sorts the date
values and thereby changes the order of the dates and of Y. The date/time
values have to be
shown on the X-axis as tick

data format of x in x <- sqlQuery()
All
When I read data into an R variable x using RODBC command:
x <- sqlQuery(channel,"select a, b from tabl",as="data frame")
and view x, I get 3 columns the first one being the index of
the rows in x.
What options do I use in sqlQuery so as not have the index in x ?
How do I get rid of the index otherwise.
For some functions like princomp (and boxplot) for

RMySQL load error
I'm having trouble getting RMySQL to load. I was able to build it and install
it (RMySQL_0.5-11.tar.gz). I was also able to build and install mysql-5.0.37.
I've read many postings about this but have not found a mention of my
particular problem (some closely related). I get the "unable to load shared
library, no such file" error, but all the files do exist, RMySQL.so and

RMySQL installed but not availalable
I don't use MySQL but I have seen messages like this before. They often have replies which indicate that you need to follow the instructions more closely. I suggest you search the list for these previous posts as I'm sure there is help there, somewhere!

install RMySQL under Mac OS X 10.4.7
Hello All,
I tried to install RMySQL package, but the error
messages says there is no such package, even though I
did see RMySQL is there in the contributed package
list in all mirror sites of CRAN I tried. Not sure
what is the problem.

RODBC - dsn specification
Happy New Year to all in the list!
I am trying to issue an SQL query to a database from R using
RODBC (on Windows). The data source file is on my PC hard
disk : C:\Program Files\ODBC\sql.dsn
The "\" character does not get interpreted properly in R - it
is removed from the file-spec string or if I specify "\\" it
appears as such with a syntax error in

RMySQL not loading on Mac OS X
Hi,
I have a problem loading RMySQL 0.5-5 on Mac OS 10.4.2 running R 2.1.1.
I installed RMySQL using:
export PKG_CPPFLAGS="-I/usr/local/mysql/include"
export PKG_LIBS="-L/usr/local/mysql/lib -lmysqlclient"
R CMD INSTALL /Users/gwo/Desktop/RMySQL_0.5-5.tar.gz
The installation seemed to work ok, but when I load RMySQL in R I get

Unable to load RMySQL
Hi R users,
I am unable to load RMySQL. The zip file is not available which I guess
is needed to load this pakage.
I also tried extracting the package from RMySQL_0.5-11.tar.gz and then
pasted the package in the directory where R is loaded for which I am
getting the following error message

RMySQL query: why result takes so much memory in R ?
Hi
I just started with RMySQL. I have a database with roughly 12 millions
rows/records and 8 columns/fields.
From all 12 millions of records I want to import 3 fields only.
The fields are specified as:id int(11), group char(15), measurement
float(4,2).
Why does this take > 1G RAM? I run R on suse linux, with 1G RAM and with
the code below it even fills the whole 1G of swap. I just

like the LD_LIBRARY_PATH is incorrect, but I don't seem to have it quite
right yet.
There are a few mentions of this problem in google, but thus far none of the
"fixes" and fixed my problem. I've tried defining the

Problem with RMySQL-0.5-3.zip/R 2.0.0 on Windows XP
I have been installing and using the RMySQL package, version 0.5-3 with R versions 1.9.0 and 1.9.1 on Windows XP without any problem. I installed the package using the .zip binary package available at http://stat.bell-labs.com/RS-DBI/download/index.html.
However, I ran into a problem using this package with the latest version 2.0.0 of R. The installation went ok, but loading the library using
