polygamma or Hurwitz zeta function
Hi,
Is there any R library that is capable of handling polygamma function
(Hurwitz zeta function also works)? I am aware of digamma(0 and trigamma(),
but could not find more advanced versions.
I'd appreciate any help.

deriv, loop
Hi, 2 questions:
Question 1: example of what I currently do:
for(i in 1:6){sink("temp.txt",append=TRUE)
dput(i+0)
sink()}
x=scan(file="temp.txt")
print(prod(x))
file.remove("C:/R-2.5.0/temp.txt")
But how to convert the output of the loop to a vector that I can manipulate
(by prod or sum etc), without having to write and append to a file?

Extending deriv3()
Hello,
I was wondering if the functions deriv3(), deriv() etc. could be extended
to handle psigamma() and its special cases (digamma(), trigamma()
etc.). From the error message it seems that 'psigamma' needs to be
added to the derivatives table.
This might be easy since psigamma() has a deriv argument.
Additionally, this error message is also obtained when requesting for
the Hessian of

I'm currently in the process of writing an R-installation SOP for my
company. As part of that process I'm using the recommendations from the 'R
Installation and Administration' document, section 3.2, "Testing an
installation". This is done on an XP machine, using the latest binary of

How to get the pseudo left inverse of a singular square matrix?

I have a dxr matrix Z, where d > r.
And the product Z*Z' is a singular square matrix.
The problem is how to get the left inverse U of this
singular matrix Z*Z', such that

Numerical Integration
Hey, all
Now I am using EM algorithm to do some
optimization. Within that E-step, I have to
calculate some multivariate integration
given some parameter values Theta and function form
of a probability density function f.
So I want to know if there are some package
in R to do such numerical integration given such

digamma with negative arguments (PR#6626)

digamma with any negative value does not give a right answer.
It gives -1.797693e+308 for any negative arguments.
For example, digamma(-1.1) gives -1.797693e+308.
The right answer should be 10.15416
This bug can be easily fixed by using the following digamma identity.
digamma(x) = digamma(1-x) -

The integration of the square of the c.d.f of normal distribution
Assume F(x) is the cdf of stardard normal c.d.f,
and want to get the integration of F(x)^2 over
(-infinite, +infinite).
So whats the value of this integration?
And is there some function to achieve this?

I am running R 2.13.0 on a Windows 7 machine.

and received the following warning message:

I've rolled up R-2.6.0.tar.gz a short while ago. This is a development
release which contains a number of new features. In particular, the handling
of data with a large number of identical strings should be more memory-efficient.
Also, a number of mostly minor bugs have been fixed. See the full list
of changes below.
