Help in Compliling user -defined functions in Rpart
I have been trying to write my own user defined function in Rpart.I imitated the anova splitting rule which is given as an example. In the work I am doing ,I am calculating the concentration index(ci) ,which is in between -1 and +1.So my deviance is given by abs(ci)*(1-abs(ci)).Now when I run rpart incorporating this user defined function i get the following error message: Error in

Error in mvpart example
Dear all, I'm getting an error in one of the stock examples in the 'mvpart' package. I tried: require(mvpart) data(spider) fit3 <- rpart(gdist(spider[,1:12],meth="bray",full=TRUE,sq=TRUE)~water+twigs+reft+herbs+moss+sand,spider,method="dist") #directly from ?rpart summary(fit3) ...which returned the following: Error in apply(formatg(yval, digits - 3), 1,

Displaying number of Y/N affected by tree in rule form RE: R question/request on rules from rpart
Hi Prof. Williams, thanks for your suggestion. The updated code is below. It turns out it was a matter of displaying the second column in yval to get the number of N and subtracting it from the n column in the frame to get the number of Y remaining in a binary example. once this is added now the function returns the rules along with Y and N count affected by the resulting rule. I am ccing

2 questions
Hi all, I am using R1.5.0 under Unix, I have a couple of questions here. 1. My program is running out of memory. I am writing a program to grow a list of trees using rpart() on a subset of a large dataset(5807x693) with a different response for every tree. I saw that after each tree was constucted, 116 MB of data was being added to the Vcells. I have no idea what this data is. My dataset is

send_files failed to open filename ...
Hi everybody, I'm mirroring some websites with rsync (daemon on the source), and I noticed in the destination host some error messages 'send_files failed to open filenames', Actually, the concerned files are deleted on the source host, but I would like to ask : * why does rsync say these (in which phase) ? * is these messages harmful or not ? Here below my rsync command and some

Sticky Options to Find?
Is there a way to provide "sticky" options to ActiveRecord::Base::Find ? I''m thinking something with a use model like: class Function < ActiveRecord::Base sticky :conditions => "lft > 0", :order => "lft ASC" end Where all subsuquent find operations have those options applied. In this case: Function.find(:all) Would actually be equivalent

Problem with random number simulation
Hi this is my first post. I am trying to run a simulation for a computer playing Von Neumann poker and adjusting it's expectation of an opponent's behavior according to how the opponent plays. This program involves random generation of "hands" and shifting of parameters. However, when I run the code, no errors come up, but the program doesn't do anything. Could someone

To convert an adjacency list model into a nested set model
Dear R-help I am wondering if somebody wrote some code to convert an adjacency list model into a nested set model. In principal I want to do the same as John Celko mentioned it here with SQL: http://groups.google.co.uk/groups?hl=en&lr=lang_en&selm=8j0n05%24n31%241 %40nnrp1.deja.com Assume you have a tree structure like this Albert / \ /

Dear All, I have imported an HTML document to R (called tables) and wish to select certain pieces of it for processing. Bad values for acts_as_nested_set?
I moved from acts_as_tree to acts_as_nested_set because I need the all_children method. I''ve seen an alternative way to add this method to acts_as_tree here: http://www.chuckvose.com/articles/2006/05/24/recursive-children But I''d prefer to use the more efficient way of acts_as_nested_set (and not to have to revert to my old code). Anyway, here''s my issue: if I

need help with plot.rpart and text.rpart
Hi, I am new to R and need help with rpart. I am trying to create a classification tree using rpart. In order to plot the reults I use the plot function and the text function to label the plot of the tree dendrogram with text. The documentation of text.rpart says : "For the "class" method, label="yval" results in the factor levels being used, "yprob" results

Request for subsystem 'sftp' failed on channel 0
Hello, I installed OpenSSH_3.7p1 on 2 AIX 4.3.3 servers last week and had this problem on both of them. On the first server I finally re-installed the package and that fixed it. I tried re-installing it multiple times on the second server and still have the same issue. I have checked everything that I can think of and spent many hours looking for a solution. Both servers have the same csh.cshrc

has_many :conditions
Is it possible to put conditions relative to the current instance in has_many''s :conditions? For example, in a forum app: class Post < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :topic has_many :self_and_descendants, :class_name => "Post", :order => "lft", :conditions => "topic_id = #{topic_id} AND (lft BETWEEN #{lft} AND #{rgt})" end With the

text.rpart for the "class" method doesn't act on label="yprob"
Hello All, Am I misreading the documentation? The text.rpart documentation says: "label a column name of x$frame; values of this will label the nodes. For the "class" method, label="yval" results in the factor levels being used, "yprob" results in the probability of the winning factor level being used, and ?specific yval level? results in the probability of

rpart Error in yval[, 1] : incorrect number of dimensions
I tried using rpart, as below, and got this error message "rpart Error in yval[, 1] : incorrect number of dimensions". Thinking it might somehow be related to the large number of missing values, I tried using complete data, but with the same result. Does anyone know what may be going on, and how to fix it? I have traced two similar error messages in the Archive, but following the

llvm.dbg.declare constraints
The documentation is correct, and the observation that the IR verifier is currently not verifying this property is also correct. Due to the way that dbg.declares are handled by later stages, LLVM can only keep track of one dbg.declare per variable and that is intentional. The dbg.declare intrinsic is supposed to pin a variable to a stack slot, such as in the code that clang emits at -O0. If you
