Data scientist // Berlin-based startup using probabilistic models in ecommerce
*Fluidshopping is a Berlin-based startup working on a customer analytics tool for online retailers. Customer Lifefitime Value (CLV) is the mythical 'magic number', the amount of money a particular customer will ever bring in. Knowing your CLV makes it trivial to: - optimize marketing spend for different inbound channels. - identify your highest value customers, - identify those in danger

Document R sourcecode with Tex
Hi, I'm actually afraid that this is a RTFM question - I read the manual but didn't find anything yet... I'm looking for a way to document R sourcecode in my thesis. Does anyone know of a tool or function which can convert or export R sourcecode to Tex? Thanks for any hints! Best Regards, Daniel

clv/cluster - cluster id vector format
Hello everyone, I came cross a question when trying to use the cluster and clv package. For validation, offen there is a parameter named 'clust', which is an integer vector with information about cluster id. If I have my own clustering result, and I'd like to read it from a file by R, what the format it should be? Thanks a lot. -- Wei WANG [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

DVD writer problem
I have an NEC DVD-RW ND2500A (that's not the label I bought it under, but that's what it really is.) It's supposed to read/write CDs, DVDs, DVD+Rs, and DVD-Rs. I'm basically dual booting between XP and CentOS 4. Following the recipe in "The Linux Cookbook", I tried to copy a DVD using: dd if=/dev/hdd of=/tmp/diskfile.iso then cdrecord dev=/dev/hdd fs=32m

Compatibility issue between lme4 and kml (operateur "[")
Hi all, There is a compatibility issue between the package 'lme4' and my package 'kml'. I define the "[" operator. It works just fine in my package (1). If I try to use the lme4 package, then it does no longer work (2). Moreover, it has some kind of strange behavior (3). Do you know what is wrong? Any idea of how I can correct that? Thanks for your help Christophe ---

Sweave and backslashes
Hello Everyone, I am an avid Sweave user and I am trying to pretty print floating point numbers for latex output. For example in my document, I would like: 4.2\cdot 10^-{8} Instead of: 4.2e-08 The Hmisc package has a nice function for doing this- but Hmisc has a ton of dependencies and has proved very unportable to the various machines I work on. So, I set out to write my own function that

Question regarding hypergeometric 2f1 function
Hi, I'm an R newbie and I've got a question regarding a certain function in R. I need to calculate values of the hypergeometric 2f1 function (hyp2f1 in cephes math library, Hypergeometric2f1 in Mathematica) and I'm wondering if anyone has tried to implement it in R or S-Plus. If not, what would be the prefered way to do so? Should I rather try to use an external C module or implement

Codeweavers
Today October 28, they are giving their software for free. Yes. Interest is go great they had to take their main site offline! Downloads can be done from the subsitute web page. So ... is their's really better than Wine on Debian Sid or Experimental? I have no need for MS-office. OO is more than good enought. However ... the question remains :-) They also offer a games package.
