client connection errors: SSL, SNI and DNS_ALT_NAMES Oh My
Hi All, I''ve run into a bit of a tangle. I currently have two puppet masters which are "load balanced" with round robin DNS (one is also the CA). I''m using dns_alt_names to let them each answer to puppet.my.domain.com For the past year this has been fine. About a week ago I tried to add a third & while all my Linux clients are happy with the new arrangement,

FORTRAN in R
Hi, Can anyone tell me what might cause this error message? Error in .Fortran("swallocate", as.double(mtx), as.double(wt), as.integer(n), : C/Fortran function name not in load table This occurs when I copied the Splus stepwise() function into R. I can source into R fine, but when I need to call that function on some dataset, I got the above error message. Platform

Output Files..
Hi, Somehow I forgot how to do this... Say I have a command that produced a 28 x 28 data matrix. How can I output the matrix into a txt file (rather than copy/paste the matrix)? Thanks... [LLVMdev] LLVM and "who does delete"
Hi, I am new to LLVM, and I am pretty much paranoid about loose pointers. I would like to write a compiler in C++ + boost + llvm, but am worried about the pointers created and passed as parameters, especially about whose responsibility it is of deallocating them (does the LLVM API do it internally, or is it the application programmer's responsibility?). And what is the best practice for

Alternative to list()
Hi, Suppose I have a dataset with 10 columns, let's call it "foo". Now if I want to extract out only column 2 ~ 8, then I know I can use either: foo[ ,2:8] or fooNew <- list( foo[ ,2:8] ) (Is there any other alternative, just out of curiosity?) But, if I only want, say, column 1, 4 and 7, I tried: fooNew <- list( x = foo[ ,1], y = foo[ ,4], z = foo[ , 7] )

t.test
Dear R-users, I am learning to use R 1.3.1 on a Pentium running Windows '98. I'm puzzled that several statistical procedures, t.test and chisq.test, do not appear to be available on R version 1.3.1. For example, if I type "t.test", I get the reply, "Object "t.test" not found". Is there a package that I have to load in order to have access to these

Loading of namespace on load of .Rdata (was strange behaviour of load)
Last week Giovanni Parrinello posted a message asking why various packages were loaded when he loaded an .Rdata file. Brian Ripley replied saying he thought it was because the saved workspace contained a reference to the namespace of ipred. (Correspondence copied below). This begs the question: how did the reference to the namespace of ipred come to be in the .Rdata file? Brian did say it is

Matrix manipulation
Hi, Suppose I have a matrix with, say 12 columns. I would like to extract out column 2 ~ 8 and 11 ~ 12 then combine them together. I tried with success to extract out the columns by doing: foo <- test[,2:8] goo <- test[,11:12] However then I am having trouble combining foo and goo. Helps are appreciated! Automated shortcut generation
Hello, I have installed Wine 1.3.5 on two Debian boards. On the first one, it was a fresh install: git clone, ./configure, make install. On this board, when I install a program with Wine, it automatically creates a shortcut in the Application menu (OK, I know how to do) and more important, it associates an icon with the launcher (I do not know how it does that, neither where it finds it?!). Pulling columns out of a data.frame
Hi there Probably a very simple solution to this problem. I have a character vector eg c("name1","name2","name3") and I want to pull out these columns from a data.frame, converting each of these columns into factors also. Many thanks Rachel -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- r-help mailing list -- Read

Getting your stuff organized in R
I'm attaching an small text file on "Getting your stuff organized in R". (Sorry if sending an attachment is not considered a correct etiquette in r-help, but this is only 7911 bytes, plain ascii text and I cannot post it in a web page at the moment). Probably all the information in this document is scattered in one or more R introduction guides, but I think that it is useful to have

Build R Packages (man)
Hi there, I'm trying to get the manual for an R package (that I'm creating) to work... Firstly, I created the *.Rd files (by following the instructions in "Writing R Extensions" and using prompt() in R, then edit the *.Rd files. I then copy them into the "pkg/man" directory as suggested by the manual. However when I load the library (successfully) in R, I cannot
