Can see Linux box, but no shares from windows
Can anyone provide me a few suggestions?
I installed Redhat 8.0 on my laptop. XP Pro on my windows box.
I am using Samba/SWAT at the moment as well.
I have the basic smb.conf that I took from the example folder and made no
changes except opening the public share. (unfortunately I am at work so I
cant show exactly what I have). I also added the workgroup = line under
[global] and added my

":::" operator doesn't work with data object Ecdat:::Crime
????? The ":::" operator doesn't work for me with "Ecdat:::Crime" on
either macOS 10.15.3 or Windows 10.
????? A different but related issue is that "plm::Crime" says "Error:
'Crime' is not an exported object from 'namespace:plm'", even though
"library(plm); data(Crime); Crime" works.? I would naively think a user

SSL CRIME
Hi,
Some of you have heard of CRIME, probably.
from https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=857051
> Adding the following line to the /etc/sysconfig/httpd file:
>
> export OPENSSL_NO_DEFAULT_ZLIB=1
But there are other services but http that use ssl and are vulnerable?
What is the optimal place for setting this environment variable system wide?
I tried to set it in

[HEADS UP]: CVE-2012-4929 (CRIME)
I think there is nothing FreeBSD can do about this besides making sure
our users are aware of it. The situation in which this is a problem is
specific but one you should consider if you are using TLS with
compression.
TLS 1.2 and earlier are vulnerable to an attack commonly known as CRIME.
The attack involves TLS sessions using compression where an attacker is
able to inject known plaintext into

Off-Topic: Crime Statistics Don't Pay
WARNING: COMPLETELY OFF TOPIC -- Nothing to do with R.
I thought readers of this list might enjoy the following. The link to
the full article is at the bottom. I hope this is not "too"
inappropriate.

Overconfidence in crime statistics doesn?t pay. In a new study, a team
of criminologists makes the case that reported crime rates should
acknowledge uncertainty in the data. The

No text on Gangster's Organized Crime
Installed normally with Wine, had no Text in the Menu boxes, changed this through a new x11drv and it was fixed. No errors, no copy-protection problems, sound perfect. Only tested german version!
This is the message from AppDB , I googled this for about 2 hrs last night and finally gave up , if anyone can help me fix this it would be most appreciated.

modestly priced laptop for C7
I'm looking to replace my (old, creaky) netbook (Acer Aspire One D255e,
a screaming dual core 1.6 GHz Atom, and a whole 2 gigs of RAM) with
something faster but not too large. Sometimes (usually) the netbook is
painfully slow.
Something like a hi-res 14 (or 15) inch screen (full HD), minimum of 4 gigs
RAM, HD of a half terabyte or bigger.
I'd like to not have to go over 600-700 dollars,

SPARC SATA, please.
Is there a card for OpenSolaris 2009.06 SPARC that will do SATA correctly yet? Need it for a super cheapie, low expectations, SunBlade 100 filer, so I think it has to be notched for 5v PCI slot, iirc. I''m OK with slow -- main goals here are power saving (sleep all 4 disks) and 1TB+ space. Oh, and I hate to be an old head, but I don''t want a peecee. They still scare me :)

Accidentally added disk instead of attaching
Hi,
I wanted to add a disk to the tank pool to create a mirror. I accidentally used zpool add ? instead of zpool attach ? and now the disk is added. Is there a way to remove the disk without loosing data? Or maybe change it to mirror?
Thanks,
Martijn

SXCE 121 Kernel Panic while installing NetBSD 5.0.1 PVM DomU
Hi all!
I am running SXCE 121 on a dual quad-core X2200M2 (64 bit of course).
During an installation of a NetBSD 5.0.1 PVM domU, the entire machine
crashed with a kernel panic. Here''s what I managed to salvage from
the LOM console of the machine:

Problem installing RCS on SXCE
I was shocked to find no RCS on SXCE 107. I needed it to update some
RCS archives I had copied over.
No problem - go to sunfreeware and copy it over. No OpenSolaris branch?
The Solaris 10 package should work.
Only the package install appears to complete and does not - as
documented only in a log file, not on my screen.
OK then, the source for RCS should be easily compiled and installed, I

Cent. Mov. Ave
Dear R People:
Here is an interesting question(I think)
Suppose I want to calculate Centered Moving Averages; i.e.
x[1] <- ( sum(y[1:12]) )/12
x[2] <- ( sum(y[2:13]) )/12
and so on.
Of course, this is easily done through loops. However, I have
been trying to do this more elegantly, but have failed. I have
tried things like
j1 <- 1:109
j2 <- 12:120
x[1:109] <- ( sum( y[j1:j2])

Newbie here. Tips on setting up 100 phones wanted.
I'm looking at setting up Asterisk for a completely IP environment.
All intercompany calls.
I work for a ski area. I currently use a 3Com Superstack for in our
office. And an old small town phone system for up at the mountain. The
phone system is dying and I'm hoping to bring IP to replace the old
phones. It will be about 100 phones at about 20 locations all within
about 4 miles of each

ZFS extended ACL
What is wrong with this?
# chmod -R A+user:webservd:add_file/write_data/execute:allow /var/apache
chmod: invalid mode: `A+user:webservd:add_file/write_data/execute:allow''
Try `chmod --help'' for more information.
This works in a zone, works on S10u5, does not work on OpenSolaris2008.11.

We heart from third party that we need a special driver for NAS systems to work fine and to display also the company name and UPS device name in the web page / software of NAS.
Currently we have a UPS with USB and our own VID (0x2B2D) and PID

I'm amazed at the postings. Many of the solutions to questions posted
