Using Rscript
Dear List, Hopefully someone will point me to a piece of documentation that I have overlooked. I am running Rscript successfully to read and execute an R program, but have failed to find the correct syntax to route the output to a file using the Rscript command that invokes the job. I tried Rscript -e 'sink("outputfile")' script.R , but it then ignored the scriptfile. I know

exec subdirectory of a package
Hello, WRE contains the following information about the "exec" subdirectory of a package : "Subdirectory exec could contain additional executables the package needs, typically scripts for interpreters such as the shell, Perl, or Tcl. This mechanism is currently used only by a very few packages, and still experimental." I think it would be useful to expand "very

Restoring an S object that was data-dumped
Hi: In R, how can I "data.restore" an object that was "data.dump"ed in Splus (I am not sure of the exact version, but probably Splus5)? When I use data.restore, I get the following error message (I am using R 1.7.0 on Windows) > data.restore("n2.suicide") Error in ReadSdump(TRUE, " ") : S mode " "Netherlands",

plots from batchfile on windows
Hi, On windows I'd like to run a batchfile that leaves me a plot. As a test I have the scriptfile "test.r" which only contains: x <- 1:10; y <- sample( 10 ) plot( x, y ) Now I tried the following (but nothing worked): a) "R --vanilla < test.r" in the cmd window, => that doesn't give me a plot b) the same, but I added

Batch Mode for Windows
Hi, I have researched batch mode for windows and could not find anything that worked. I know the code should be $ R CMD BATCH inputfile.R outputfile.Rout or R <inputfile.R > outputfile.Rout I tried these without success. I need detailed, step by step instructions on how to do this. I have tried typing C:\R\bin\x64\Rgui.exe before it, but this just opens R. When I tried to do this, it

import data from splus
hi there, anybody knows how to import data into R from splus directly? I have a huge amount of data in splus format, which will cost forever for me to transform the data back to ascii or something else and then read them into R. thanks a lot. ximing -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- r-help mailing list -- Read

RScript.exe and map directory issue
Hi, I'm trying to run on Windows 7 a scriptfile with Rscript.exe from within Excel 2010 with the following code: Call Shell(rPath & "\Rscript.exe C:\Work\Latest\_Test.R", vbHide) The good news is: the above code works perfectly, but ... If I add white spaces to my map directory, like: Call Shell(rPath & "\Rscript.exe C:\Work\Latest 1\_Test.R", vbHide) In the

write.table - format
Hello there I ` m a newbie in R and have a question about the output of write.table My command looks like this: write.table(datatr$V1[data.chull],file="outr.txt", quote = FALSE, sep = "\t") In the outputfile (outr.txt) I have an "x" in the left corner and a new row with numbers for each column(1,2,3...). passing command line arguments to 'R CMD BATCH myScript.R'
Hi Community, I have a question about how to pass command line parameters to R script running in the batch mode. The problem is: there is a banch of data files which are to be processed by R script called from a web-server, i.e. in the batch mode. The web server generates data files and passes their names calling 'R CMD BATCH' one by one for every file. Now the question is how to

vfs module for interpreting a script on file access
hi i want to ask a simple question: exists a samba VFS module for interpreting a file on access? (mostly the same as a dynamic file on an webserver) if not, i want to suggest it ;-) a simple example: a share with an single MS-DOS .bat file on it; this .bat file is (for example) a bash script file; if the file is accessed via SMB than smbd executes this script and handles the stdout output of

Dear R users, Using the library(mgcv) and running R under MacOSX, I have fitted a generalised additive model with binomial errors in order to check the linearity of two continuous variables ap2mm and diffdaysm in a glm: > mymodel.gam <- gam(diedhos~ s(ap2mm) + Dweekm + s(diffdaysm) + Dweekm:diffdaysm + ap2mm:Dweekm, binomial) I would like postscript gam plots for the two smoothed

define stuff to be only usable in the same file
Hello R-Help! I've looked around and have not found: A simple(short) way to hide functions and variables from the global environment. What i want is for a few of them to only be accessable from the scriptfile they're in. I probably could do fun things with environments , but that seems quite a hassle. As example: I have a file that gets me stuff from the database and creates an R object

Yet another batch mode question
Hello all and thanks in advance, I know you can start R with either: 1. R CMD BATCH myfile.R or 2. R < myfile.R My question is this: what if I want multiple input files and/or command line arguments. For example, under unix you can run a script command (in a shell language, perl, or python) like: python myScript.py or better yet, if you have things set up right, you can place a

FLAC: sending output to file
Hi, I'm using windows so I know the wildcard support for flac is broken. That's why I use this command to encode a whole directory of WAV-files to FLAC-files in a command prompt: for %1 in (*.wav) do flac -V --best "%1" This command is fully working Now I want to write the flac output to a file, so I can open this file later. I tried to add > outputfile.txt to the command

Working with R batch
Hi all, I'm trying to invoke R from a perl program, using R BATCH. My original R program wrote an output to a file and plotted a graph. I'm having problems with the following three things: 1) To get the output file name form the perl program I wrote the following, in my R program: commandArguments <- commandArgs(); outputFile <- commandArguments[length(commandArguments)]; This

Storing FLAC in Matroska
First, Thank you for your answers. I using the following code to try simply decode a flac file and write the decoded data raw PCM file. The resulting file is just noise and pops, so is the decoded data in a different format than PCM? struct flacData { FILE *inputFile; FILE *outputFile; char *filename; }; FLAC__StreamDecoderReadStatus flac_DecoderReadCallback(const FLAC__StreamDecoder
