[R-1.4.0] minimum spanning tree of large ontology
Dear all, I have an ontology which I would like to load in R to then compute the minimum distance between elements. Since this ontology is not only DAG, the problem is non trivial and therefore decided to use R with the powerful e1071 library (allShortestPaths) to do that. That method requires to provide a distance matrix between the various objects. My ontology contains 32768 objects and

[R 1.4] WARNING: --max-vsize=8000M : too large and ignored
Why is there a limit on the amount of vector heap one can use ? I am operating on a 16GB SGI (O2000) machine. Furthermore, is there any way to make R using multiple threads ? Regards Luca p.s. I understand that I might be pushing a bit R beyond its most common operation set. However, also understanding where the limits of R are, is a good excercise.

help: cannot allocate vector of length 828310236
Hi all, I was trying a probit regression using polr() and got this message, Error in model.matrix.default(Terms, m, contrasts) : cannot allocate vector of length 828310236 The data is about 20M (a few days ago I asked a question about large file, thank you for responses, then I use MS Access to select those columns I would use). R is 2.3.1, Windows XP, 512M Ram. I am going to read

Panel Data Analysis (PLM) - Fixed Effects - "cannot allocate vector of length"
Hello to all on the list, I'm trying to estimate a fixed effects model from a large (unbalanced) panel data set. I have no problems when using only an individual effect or only a time effect, but I get an error message when I try for a "twoways" effect. Here is some of the code: paneldata27 is the entire panel data set: > dim(paneldata27) [1] 1178831 8 >

" cannot allocate vector of length 1072693248"
Andy; Well, that about does it.... I'm copying this one back to the list for the benefit of those who may hit this thread while searching the archives. Your changes to the code run just fine on the my Windows machine, but gives the vector length error on the G4 whether I'm using the OS X build of R (as in Raqua) or the X11 build (for Darwin). It is worth noting that I have nearly twice

SAFETY FOR CHILDREN ON THE WEB Compliments of www.milfordpc.com, PC and Network services with over 10 years of Technical Experience "Cyberprowlers" know that children today are computer savvy, and know that they generally are very trusting of people. Dropping 'empty' panels from lattice
I have 8 cofactors possibly affecting one and only one variable. I make conditional histograms: <-pdf(file="tst3.pdf",paper="special",width=36,height=36) <-histogram(~Oversized|dat$c1*dat$c2*dat$c5*dat$c6*dat$c7*dat$c8*dat$c9*dat$c10,nint=21,layout=c(32,8),data=dat,type="count") <-dev.off() This works (compliments to R developers!) but it does generate a

Caching in development mode on webrick
Hi, I''m running a more or less up-to-date system, and am encountering something that''s irritating me: I make changes to the .rhtml file, and yet don''t see them from my browser. The development.log file indicates that 1) I am indeed in development mode, and 2) queries are being run against the database, so something is happening - it''s just not reading in the

Limiting IP range access
First of all, MANY compliments for this fantastic software. Now the question: is it possibile to limit the access to dovecot (or a single service) to a specified range of IPs? Basically, I am thinking about an IP-based ACL. Thankyou in advance. Ciao, luigi -- A beer delayed is a beer denied.

avoiding (another) error
Dear all, Many thanks to all who always so quickly respond with helpful hints! Currently I am working with R 0.63.1 on SuSE 5.2 which I installed this morning within about half an hour: my deepest compliments to the developpers! (I had still 0.62.2 before.) This time I am trying the following: > xy <- list (a= c (1, 2, NA), b= c (2, 3)) > list.name <- "xy" > get

Manipulating two large dataset differing by date and time
Dear Members, Compliments of the Season!! Below is a part of a code I use for Fourier analysis of signals. The code handles data with the format 05 01 01 8628 (year, month, day and count) 05 01 02 8589 (year, month, day and count) The sample data is attached as 2005daily.txt. I would like to adapt the code to handle data of the form: 05 01 01 00 4009

rsync not copy all information for font file
Hi Ram, In OS X, some font types (not all) put the font payload in the resource fork. Netatalk provides AFP filesharing, imitating the resource forks by creating secondary files in ?.Appledouble? folders within each folder. Netatalk tracks the resource forks, and other metadata, by keeping a ?Desktop database? at the root of the shared volume ? look for .AppleDesktop, and .AppleDB. You can

Manipulating two large dataset differing by date and time
Hi Ogbos, You can just use ISOdate. If you pass more values, it will process them: ISOdate(2018,01,22) [1] "2018-01-22 12:00:00 GMT" > ISOdate(2018,01,22,18,17) [1] "2018-01-22 18:17:00 GMT" Add something like: if(is.null(data$hour),data$hour<-12 then pass data$hour as it will default to the same value as if you hadn't passed it.
