write.table - format
Hello there
I ` m a newbie in R and have a question about the output of write.table
My command looks like this:
write.table(datatr$V1[data.chull],file="outr.txt", quote = FALSE, sep =
"\t")
In the outputfile (outr.txt) I have an "x" in the left corner and a new
row with numbers for each column(1,2,3...).
I just want the values in my file. What should I change in

How to create a data.frame "like" another, but longer?
Hello,
does anyone know of a quick way to create a data frame "like" another, but
with more rows?
What I'd like to do is this:
if mydata is a data.frame like
a b c
1 TRUE yes
2 FALSE no
3 TRUE yes
I'd like to get mydata2 with the same column names and column types, but
without the values and with more rows.
All I could think of was to manually do

list of all objects - just being curious
Hello all,
to obtain a list of all objects in all search paths, I've found the
following to work:
> biglist <- sapply(1:length(search()), objects)
This more obvious one, however, does not work:
> biglist <- sapply(search(), objects)
Error in pos.to.env(pos) : invalid argument
Still, search() gives

newbie questions: accessing functions globally
How can I access a function created in one data directory in another? I
have been sourcing the text file that contains the function each time I go
to another data dir. This is cumbersome, and I suspect there is a way to
make functions global.
Thanks in advance,

R 1.1 congrat; undocumented behaviour of recordPlot
Hello,
first, I'd like to congratulate the core team to the new R version 1.1. I
think it's a great update, with glimpses into an even greater future
(tcltk!).
While playing around with the new functions (on Win 95), I found the
following:
As the documentation states, when I generate a plot and save it with
recordPlot, I can regenerate it by printing the variable:

Currently (R-1.4.1 as well as R-devel, according to

Post hoc tests
This is only partly an R question, but this seems a good place to ask.
Like many, if not most, statistics programs, R has no post hoc tests
for Kruskal Wallis or Friedman, and as far as I can make out they are
not available in any of the R packages. I would be grateful if someone
could point me in the right direction if I am wrong.
As I said this is not uncommon. Parametric Anova procedures

Setting elements in data frame
Hi all,
I have a problem which I am biting my teeth into unsuccessfully:

Type III Sums of Squares?
Hello,
I'd like to propose an extension to the function summary.aov.
In Splus (2000, I don't know about other versions), summary.aov allows a
parameter ssType to be set to 1 or 3 (defaults to 1) to choose the type of
Sums of Squares.
I know I can get Type III SS in R with drop1(model), but including the
functionality into summary.aov would, in my opinion,
- yield a more usable table

Using a zero-finding routine in R
Hello all!
I'd like to use a routine in R to find the zero of a function (like
Newton-Raphson, Broyden, etc.)
In the manual, I found a reference to Newton-Raphson method in the
"qr" function, but I simply wonder how I could use it to implement such a
method.

(Newbie) using par() to regulate viewing area in graphs
Hello:
I should first apologize for the very basic question, but I ought to
start from somewhere [embarrassed grin].
I am using R-1.0.0 in a Windows 98 machine to plot some graphs. I
tried to apply a "zoom in" in some portions of the graph using say
'par(yaxp=c(0.35,0.40,5))' but nothing happens, no error msg, no
update in the active graphics device. What should be the

python bindings for R
Hello,
my group is investigating the development of a statistical program in
support of some other work we are doing. Stats is not really our area of
expertise and we would like to leverage existing code where possible. From
your site, I have gathered that R is pretty capable and well used. We are
currently developing in python and targetting a primarily windows
environment. We would like to
