R-beta: R0.62.3 installation on RedHat 5.0
I have R-0.62.3 and RedHat 5.0 with fort77.
At the office R is running but when I install a package, eg. 'akima'
I get a message

'R INSTALL library' does not accept fort77, but R installation checks
f77/g77/fort77. Is there an easy way to edit some file and replace
f77/g77 with fort77?
At home I have the same R and Linux versions, but when

0.65 && AIX|HPUX
I've made some more changes to configure/make which still don't solve
everything but I think I have to stop for now.
Status AIX:
* I can compile with gcc/f77/make.
* AIX make check fails (cannot build base-Ex.R).
* GNU make check fails in the contour example.
* Plotting is broken (tickmarks go all the way thru).
* IEEE fp stuff is strange (will look into this).
* I still need f77 for

R-release dynamic load problem on HPUX10.20
Hello,
I just pulled the patched release:
R-release Version 1.0.0 Patched (March 19, 2000), on HPUX10.2
I am having dynamic library load problems. I configured with:
./configure --prefix=/home/absd00t/local --with-readline --with-x
After changing etc/Makeconf to take -lblas out of libs (the blas
library provided by the system is not a shared library), system was
built without any interruptions.

PATCH: HPUX trusted system password checking
Dear developers,
The HPUX 10.20 trusted system hack doesn't work yet as intended.
I have adapted the auth-passwd.c file to make it work.
Please find a context diff file attached to this file. This diff is
against the latest OpenSSH 2.2.0p1 released Sept 2, 2000.
Also on HPUX 10.20, xauth is not found at the standard location.
Perhaps this standard location could be changed automagically

R-1.1.0 - f2c in configure
When trying to build R-1.1.0, the configure script reported no Fortran
compiler, even though '/usr/bin/f2c' was present, and R-1.0.1 had found
and successfully used this. I traced this to an apparent typo in line
2067 of configure:
for name in g77 fort77 f77 f90 xlf cf77 fc; do
changing this to:
for name in g77 fort77 f77 f90 xlf cf77 f2c; do
allowed the script to 'find'

getting swat to run on Hewlit Packard HPUX 10.20
I've just downloaded and installed the SAMBA binaries for HPUX 10.20. I'm
been unsuccessful in getting swat to run though. I've made the correct
entries in the /etc/services file (swat 901/tcp) and in the /etc/inetd.conf
file (swat stream tcp nowait.400 root /opt/samba/bin/swat swat) and
have shutdown and restarted the inetd daemon. When I use Netscape and

help with combining data frames
Dear R user,
I'm relative new and need some help / advise from you. I have
organised my data in several frames, mainly because the data came
from different sources. One common variable in all data frames is the
day post transplantation. I would like to combine the data frame to
one big data frame which contains all the data, however no duplicate
rows should occour (only one row for one

binaries of R-1.0.0 for hpux
Hi,
I'm wondering if someone has compiled R-1.0.0 for hp-ux 10.20.
Unfortunally I could't compile the source because hp-ux doen't
come with the full set of include/libaries for X.

Unable to configure 2.2.4 on HPUX 10.20 (locking not available)
While running configure on samba2.2.4 source on an HP-UX 10.20 OS, I get the
following:
checking configure summary... ERROR: No locking available. Running Samba would
be unsafe
configure: error: summary failure. Aborting config
What exactly does "No locking available" mean, and is there a workaround? I'm
currently running version 1.9.15p8 on the same OS.
TIA!

Win95 connection to HPUX on 10.20
hello;
I've got a PC running Windows95 trying to connect to a HPUX box
running 10.20. The share it connects to works fine under
windows NT, but for windows 95 you do not get prompted for a
username to connect to.
It will come back with invalid password.
thanks much for your help.

configure bug in R-1.2.1 and earlier (PR#836)
Unless I force the Fortran compiler through --with-g77, configure fails to
find and use the installed g77. I would submit a patch for configure.in,
but I can't quite follow the logic in configure.in.

how to get a line plot before/after treatment
Dear R help-list reader,
I would like to generate a plot which compares to states in a patient
treatment, before and after. for this reason I have generated a vector
before<-c(1,30,23,40)
and
after<-c(20,10,20,60)
the first element in "before" corresponds to the first element in "after".
I would like and generate a dotplot with
before and after as x-scale, the elements

Question on trying to build R 2.11.1 on Tru64(aka OSF1) system
Hello,
I am trying to build the R-2.11.1 software for university faculty to use in
research projects on a DEC/Compaq/HP AlphaServer model GS160 16CPU/64GB memory
running Tru64Unix aka OSF1 version 5.1B-5.
Is it known whether it is possible to build the R-2.11.1 software on the
platform I am using?
In my attempts to build the R-2.11.1 software, I first used the native C
and Fortran 77/90/95
