failing to select a subset of observations based on variable values [Sec: UNCLASSIFIED]
Greetings all.
I'm starting analysis in R on a reasonably sized pre-existing dataset, of 583 variables and 1127 observations. This was an SPSS datafile, which I read in using the read.spss command using the foreign package, and the data was assigned to a data.frame when it was read in. The defaults in read.spss were used, except I set to.data.frame = TRUE.
The data is a survey dataset (each

Hi,
I am new to Asterisk. I'm using it behind a kamailio sip-router to provide voicemail boxes to sip-users.
I followed these instruction: http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Realtime+Integration+Of+Asterisk+1.4+With+Kamailio+1.5.x
to set everything up, using ARA with a MySQL DB.
After a few tweaks "everything" is basically working, however, a few questions remain that I could not

Carrying non-audio data in an Ogg/Vorbis I stream
Hello,
I would like to "piggy-back" other data in an Ogg/Vorbis I physical stream
(i.e. file) in a manner that does not conflict with specifications and
existing decoders/players/editors etc.
As far as I can see, I have some possible choices:
1 - Chaining a logical bistream at the end. If this is the way to go, two
questions arise to begin with:

binding data.frames with sequential names
Hello,
I have data frames X1 to X19
I want a simple way to bind them as the next run(s) will generate many
more sequential data frames.
I tried the following with i = 19:
> my.list <- as.list(paste("X",1:i,sep=""))
> new.data <- do.call("rbind", my.list)
> new.data

Assessing network quality
I am trying to trouble shoot one of my ISP's network and compare to my
other ISPs offering. Although network 1 is reasonably fast and has low
enough latency, voice quality is not good and the reason for this is not
readily apparent using standard network tools.
What tools can be used to assess the quality of the network in terms of
it's suitability for voice? I am using ping, mtr,

Antivirus for CentOS? (yuck!)
Hi All,
Yes, I know, it's really really embarrassing to have to ask but I'm
being pushed to the wall with PCI DSS Compliance procedure
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCI_DSS) and have to either justify why
we don't need to install an anti-virus or find an anti-virus to run on
our CentOS 5 servers.
Whatever I do - it needs to be convincing enough to make the PCI
compliance guy tick the

Samba-3.0.10 domain issue
Hi,
I have a working samba setup using ldap from following the
smbldap-installer scripts etc, but now have one remaining problem. This
is the second time I have installed it and had it working reasonably well
being used in an educational environment.
My problem this time is that each workstation has 3 operating systems -
Windows98SE, Win2K and WinXP. Last time I created the domain it was fine

Simple Queue question
Hello,
I have a fairly standard call center. I'm running 1.4.23.1. I am
trying to get a mechanism where :
1- Employee A can have the phone at his desk ring when a call comes in the queue
2- When already on a call, employee A does not hear a "beep" in his
phone because another call is trying to come in
It's fairly simple. I tried a few different things:

CentOS 6.x, kernel-2.6.32-220.7.1, EC2 and drive enumeration
Hi all,
Is anyone successfully running/has succesfully upgraded to 2.6.32-220
from, say, 2.6.32-71.29.1? (i.e. done a normal run-of-the-mill yum
update on, say a 6.0 instance all the way up cleanly to 6.2?
Reason I ask is that booting into -220 (and I think also into -131 as
well) results in a kernel panic for me. Some digging around and the new kernel
seems to be enumerating the drives with the

Random Effects Meta Regression
Hi All,
I have run a series of random effects meta regressions on binomial outcomes
using the metabin function in R. Now I would like to conduct some random
effects meta regressions on the outcomes. Is there a command available which
will allow for me to test the impact of a certain variable on the relative
treatment effect from my meta regressions?
Many Thanks,
Steph

Dreamweaver2 trouble...
Hi,
I have a curious trouble with Dreamweaver2 using wine (20020804).
My system is Mdk9.0 on a Dell Latitude C840.
The installed system was W$XP.
I can't get Wine right with it (but it is a NTFS partition (and I don't want
to spend time reinstalling Window$)).
Dreamweaver2 worked on my other computer with Mdk09.0, so I did a copy of

copying large number of files from XP to Samba fails
I have a new Sun Fire AMD64 server running Solaris 10 12/06 and Samba
3.0.21b. I have migrated a configuration file from an older RHEL
machine running Samba 2.2.x. On this new machine, if one tries to
copy a large number of files from a Windows XP client to the server,
the copy starts and runs for a few minutes, but then stops. The
error message on the XP machine is "Cannot copy

puppet-dashboard
Hello,
I have another quick one about puppet dashboard. We are using the
Debian one for Squeeze (1.0.4) and as the database has significantly
grown, if/when we click on a list of unresponsive nodes to check them,
the web interface sits there doing nothing then the puppetmaster
process starts timing out for all nodes compiling their catalogs.
Has anyone got a workaround for this? Does it involve

puppet 2.6.9 debian packages
Anyone hosting deb packages for puppet 2.6.9, or know how to build it
from the tar.gz. I know sid has 2.7.1 but i''m after fixes in 2.6.9,
which I think won''t be up-streamed until 2.7.2
I''ve been using 2.6.5 along with the init.d scripts. I had a look in
the tar.gz of 2.6.9 but couldn''t find the service scripts or any
control files.
Cheers,
Matt
