cluster - clusplot.default (PR#1249)
The following code in clusplot.default (package cluster) is in error:

if (var.dec < 0)

warnings --- wish/bug (PR#1148)
When R prints warnings, they often go "out of the line", it would be
better if they where wrapped with
writeLines(strwrap ...
I tried to do that , changing the function warnings, but it has only
effect when called explicitely, not when R prints the warnings unasked.
Anyhow, here is the changed warnings:
warnings <-
function (...)
{
if (!(n <- length(last.warning)))

An introduction to R (PR#1426)
(I sent this earlier, but it seems not to have come through, due to
problems witkh my system)
The following command from appendix A, "a sample session", isnt correct:
contour(x, y, fa, nint=15)
when used R protests:
Warning message:
parameter "nint" couldn't be set in high-level plot() function
it should probably be nlevels, as used a few lines before.

documentation bug in (ctest) chisq.test (PR#2346)
chisq.test with simulate.p.value=TRUE uses the Patefield algorithm, this
is not documented, and the original reference is not given, as it ought
to be. The reference is:

with given row and column totals (algorithm AS 159). Applied Statistics

segfault in approx() (PR#6809)
This is R1.9.0, windows XP
I run across the following:
It is admittedly silly, but it shouldn't segfault:
test <- list(y=1:100, x=rep(NaN, 100))
approx(test, xout=rep(NaN, 10))

postscript problem (PR#1147)
I reported this earlier, and have got reports that others have the same
promlem on UNIX machines, so it is not only a windows problem
S I file a bug report.
The function (boot.stat) given at the end produces a postscript file,
which cannot be included correctly in LaTeX. Specifically,
the image in LaTeX (when translated by dvips to postscript)
becomes very small, not using the bounding box, and

Rcmd check on windows (XP)
Hola!
This is windows XP, rw1062. When running
Rcmd check
on a package, I get (among others) the message:
ERROR: Environment text <enclosed in {}> found in
\title{...}. The title must be plain text!
but it does not mention in which .Rd file this error was found,
so it was necessry to look through about 50 files.
It would be usefull if the error message mentioned the file name.

Off-Topic: LaTeX package listings
Hola!
I ask here since I learnt from this list that the LaTeX package listings
should be good
for typesetting R code. I encountered one problem:
\begin{lstlisting}
X %*% V
\end{lstlisting}
in the output the * in %*% disappears! same with %/%, etc, the /
disappears.
Any ideas?

Geometric Distribution at prob=c(0,1)
Dear all,
I''m working with the geometric distribution for the time being, and I''m
confused. This may have more to do with statistics than R itself, but
since I''m getting results from R I find counterintuitive (well, yeah, my
statistical intuition has not been properly sharpened), I feel like
asking.
The point first:
If I do

Rcmd problems and questions, lazyloading

I got past the problems I asked about two days ago, thanks. No I am
updating
CRAN package asypow (the daily package check on CRAN gave warnings due to
.Rd problems, fixed).
Now it PASSED Rcmd check

matters.)

mgcv, gam
Hola!
I have some problems with gam in mgcv. Firts a detail: it would
be nice igf gam would accept an na.action argument, but that not the
main point.
I want to have a smooth term for time over a year, the same pattern
repeating in succesive years. It would be natural then to impose
the condition s(0)=s(12). Is this possible within mgcv?
I tried to obtain this with trigonometric terms, aca:
