help.start() problem with netscape 6.2.2 (was: R 1.5.0 RPM's for Mandrake)
I've installed Netscape 6.2.2 on Mdk82, but have not had much luck with
help.start() (R-1.5.0 compiled from source).
When I do help.start(), it just starts up netscape with the default home
page, rather than the R help page. Doing ?<anything> at the R prompt starts
up yet another netscape instance, but still no R help.
Anyone knows why, or even better, how to solve this?

R search applet initialization
R 1.5.1 is due to come out ... and I've just noticed that the R help.start
page search applet doesn't work on my Mandrake 8.2 system even though I've
upgraded mozilla to version 1.0 and I have a perfectly working java (all
right, I'm using 1.4.0 now, but with mozilla 0.98 and java 1.3.1 it still
didn't work). I had thought the problem due to a too-old mozilla version,
but it

Small typo in An Introduction to R (PR#1402)
At a snail's pace I keep on translating an introduction to R into italian;
I have reached the section describing the glm() function, in which some
example code is presented. The very last line of code, before the
beginning of the section on Poisson models is:
ldp <- ld50(coef(fmp)); ldl <- ld50(coef(fmp)); c(ldp, ldl)
which of course gives results 43.663 and 43.663; the correct code

Query a timetable (cute solution?)
I am developing app which needs to query a timetable. The user specifies
where they want to go from (start_station) and to (end_station) and the
time (start_time) they wish to leave.
My models are as follows:
Provdier -> Service -> Run -> Stop <- Station
-> = has many
Provider = Bus Company
Service = eg. Number 10 bus
Run = Column on timetable
Stop = Cell on timetable
Station =

StarAlliance TravelDesk (PC-based timetable app)
The StarAlliance airline network used to have a Windows 3.x-ish timetable program that worked very well under Wine. Now they replaced it by something more fancy and Wine (0.9.59) cannot handle it. The application installs fine, starts up, but then it's frozen. You cannot enter any text in the search boxes and you cannot move the scrollbars.
Can someone help me to get this going?

Tutorials & release timetable
Hi,
I want to try Facebooker again for a new project, after a moderately
painful couple of months with RFacebook. I see there is some activity
on the project, but still can''t find any docs or tutorials or such
anywhere, and was wondering if anyone had located any of those hidden
away somewhere in some dark confine of the internet... It would
probably be quite handy to get some

NHW Project - 2017 timetable
Hello all,
Just a quick message for those interested in the NHW Project.I realize that
I have too little time to spend on the project currently and I feel that
this year will be very important after 6-7 years for its success or not.I
already had some few replies from some companies (and a major one), and
they can not spend some time, spend some engineers on my work because there

Possible RENAME bug
Hello, I'm having some trouble working on a webapp managing the imap tree on Dovecot.
The same doesn't happen on other imap servers (e.g. Cyrus).
Looks like if I receive shared folders from another user, and try to rename a folder in it, the rename command returns "ok", then if you list the new folder name, it isn't there.
Looks like you've lost all the original folder

bug in install-info.pl ?
I have run across a minor problem which would seem to be a bug in the
install-info.pl script. My data regard R 1.6.2 but I don't suppose the
script has been changed so perhaps this could be fixed for R 1.7.0.
Someone mailed me saying they could not recompile my R 1.6.2 src.rpm for
mandrake 9.1. This was the error message:

dates screwed up, help!
Hi, the problem I am reporting relates to RH Linux 6.0
I have successfully mounted a disk from a windows NT server machine,
using smbmount as follows:
$ smbmount //machine/service -c 'mount /mnt/NTgroups -u local_owner' -U
remote_username
and everything looked fine. Now I have just noticed that when "touching"
or creating files everything behaves strangely, that is the date is

MSDFS...
Hi, After some experiment with MSDFS on Samba I have seen this problems
and I don't know if this are caused by my possible wrong configuration or
if are "feature" of MSDFS:
-as described into the documentation I compiled a Samba version with
--with-msdfs and this smb.conf (server 172.26.11.236). The configuration
file is:

host msdfs = yes

dovecot 2.1.13, proxy and nologin extras field
Hi at all,
in our test environment, I'm playing with dovecot 2.1.13 configured as
imap/pop/managesieve proxy. It is configured to authenticate users with
ldap and it works very well.
Now, I'd like to temporary disable some users's login, because we are
moving to another storage, and I wouldn't stop imap service at all.
I've found on Dovecot wiki that I could use

Mandrake RPM's ... addio ?
Hallo all;
I've built the usual Mandrake rpm for R 1.9.1, it will be picked up by
Martyn and subsequently propagate through CRAN in the next couple of
days or so. Impatient folk could also download a copy from a link on my
home page ( web.rossoalice.it/michele.alzetta/ ).
This time I've only prepared an rpm for mandrake 10.0 official, and the
reason is soon told: both my home systems

overlapping labels
Good evening,
I am trying to add labels to the point of a simple plot, using the
text() function; the problem is that sometimes, if two points are too
close to each other, labels overlap and are no longer readable.
I was wondering whether there are options that I can use to prevent this
overlapping (by, for example, placing labels alternatively above and
below the plotted curve), or whether I

RMySQL/methods problem
I have a problem when using the RMySQL package and the methods package

This works fine . However when I then do:
library(methods);
and then repeat my sql :

Problem with large files
Hi
we have samba 3.0.14a on FreeBSD 5.4.
We tried with different kind of locking and oplocks (both enabled and
disabled).
If we try to copy from a Windows XP client a file larger than 3g, we get
these error:
Cannot copy XXX. The specified network name is no longer available.
We traced this problem in the logs (log level 10) and we got this error
