gss package
Hi
I would like to know if the "penalty associated with the fit" that is
printed by the summary.ssanova function is the smoothing parameter
(\lambda) of the criterion function that's minimized to find f.
Thanks
EJ

a question about using function ssanova of package gss in R version 2.14.1 (2011-12-22)
Dear all,
I am trying to use ssanova of the gss package but met some error that I
cannot figure out the answer for.
Here is the code I am using to explain the problem.
library(gss)
set.seed(5732)
x=(1:100)/100
y=1+3*sin(2*pi*x)+2*(x>0.7)+rnorm(x)
x1=rnorm(100)
x2=rnorm(100)
part.fit=ssanova(y~x, partial=~cbind(x1,x2))
summary(part.fit)
part.fit=ssanova(y~x, partial=~cbind(as.numeric(x1),x2))

ssanova help
Hi all,
I'm using the ssanova function from the gss package to fit smoothing spline
anovas, and am running into some difficulty.
For my data, I have measurements at 2 milisecond intervals for every
observation. Every observation does not have the same duration, so I have
scaled the times for each observation to a scale between 0 and 1. I would
like to smooth over time, and the following

GAM with Thin plate splines
Hello, I'm a student at the University of Klagenfurt / Austria and I
need some help !
I have to predict 24 daily load-values.
Therefor I got a dataset with following colums:
24 past daily load-values
6 past daily temperature-values
My goal is to find a model (GAM with thin plate splines) in R.
I found the function "gam" in the R-library "mgcv", but it just fits

Hi everyone,
I use this code to add the fitted line to a plot, however, I think I cannot
access the fitted equation. How my I find the equation in the object ksi?
thanks alot.

Hi
I'm computing a bca interval using bca.ci from the boot package.
When I try to use this I get an error

However my machine has 2GB of memory and without R running I only have

Charts to M$Word - what's the best format
Hi
I'm exporting some graphs from R to M$Word. I used png, jpeg and bmp and
the quality is poor when comparing with the postscript.
What is the best way to export a chart to be included in a M$Word file ?
Thanks

How to organize/develop an R function
Hi
Maybe this is not an issue about R. It's probably a programming issue
and I am not a developer at all. Anyway my main developing activities
are in R and that's where I have difficulties.
When I develop a function or group of functions I lose eternities with
the objects attributes and classes. I do a lot of object manipulation
(lists to arrays, factors to numeric vectors, etc, etc) so

Package GSS for interpolation in more than 2D?
Dear all,
There has been some time since I asked about interpolation in higher (>2)
dimensions, and I must admit I failed to write a function to do this
myself the last time, but eventually ended up doing it in MATLAB. I tried
to translate the MATLAB code, but MATLAB code is so much more opaque than
R (S) code, so I failed that too, mainly because I could only get one
MATLAB session, I would
