passing arguments to R CMD SHLIB
Dear People, I want to run gcc with optimisation turned on (-O2), and with -Wall (all warnings) enabled, when using R CMD SHLIB. When I do make, which is R CMD SHLIB -Wall -O2 cftp.c mcmc.c latticefn.c -lm in this case, I get faheem ~/research/cftp>make R CMD SHLIB -Wall -O2 cftp.c mcmc.c latticefn.c -lm make[1]: Entering directory `/home/faheem/research/cftp' gcc -I/usr/lib/R/include

Want to exclude axis numbering in plot.ca
plot.ca gives numbers on each axis. How do I stipulate to exclude these. Have read the R Documentation plot.ca but see no option to exclude axis numbers. R Packages in Windows
I have installed R version 1 for windows and have installed the survival5 package in the library folder, but the base package only seems to partially acknowledge survival5's presence. How have I screwed up? The diagnostics are as follows... >library(survival5) ** no warning given.. seems OK ** >help(package=survival5) **this gives the contents of the package correctly,

documentation for survival5?
Dear R-Helpers: What other references are there on the capabilities of the survival5 package other than the help files and the chapter on survival analysis in every edition of Modern Applied Statistics with S? I'm thinking of something like "An Introduction to Survival Analysis in R" with worked examples that might complement or extend the chapter in MASS. Thanks, Spencer

multiple lattice, xyplot & levelplot on same page
Dear R-users, I'd like to place an xyplot() at the top of a page and a levelplot() at the bottom of the same page, and have the x-axes be the same. I've come close to finding a solution through Rarchive, and can produce an upside-down version of what I'd like (levelplot() on the top - see code below). However, the following error occurs when I try and plot the xyplot() at the top:

methods for interval-censored data
Dear all, Are there functions or packages in R that can handle interval-censored data? I have looked in various packages (such as survival5 or event), but it seems that only right-censored data can be analysed. More generally, are there methods to analyse both interval-censored observations and right-censored observations in the same data set? Thanks in advance. Emmanuel Paradis

I downloaded binary of survival5 for windows95 (also the splines, date). The function survsum shows up in content, has a help page, but the function itself is missing. Can we cut and paste the survsum from survival4 ? Mai Zhou P.S. I am not picking on R, not even complaining. modifying Openssh config script for KTH-KRB (fwd)
Dear OpenSSH developers, Hi, taking the liberty of sending this to your mailing list in the hope someone will be able to help. The KTH version of Kerberos 4 was the only one I was able to find. In case you don't want to look at all the stuff below, the situation is briefly that I am trying to compile openssh with kerberos 4 support, which it apparently has. However, it can't find krb.h,

eps file not positioned properly in latex document
Dear People, I am trying to include a barplot (see code below), in a latex document. However, the plot appears in totally the wrong position. I know this is not an R question as such, but the eps file is produced by R and I thought that perhaps other people had had similar problems and could give me pointers. Am I doing anything obviously wrong? Sincerely, Faheem Mitha. PS.

thick plot lines
Dear People, In a qqplot I am doing, I get lines/points that are very thick. I've tried setting the lwd variable to 0.1, but it doesn't seem to have any effect. Also, I have set the value of lty to dashed, but I still get dots. The command looks like qqplot(cdf.inv(seq(0,1,length=size),theta,pos,len),empmargdistvec(len,theta,pos,size), xlim=c(-theta,theta), ylim=c(-theta,theta),
