problems with package tutorial
Hi: Here's my revised attempt at explaining my problem. Hopefully it won't get sent out weirdly like it did earlier. ? The link to what I'm trying to follow is http://www.stat.columbia.edu/~gelman/stuff_for_blog/AlanRPackageTutorial.pdf ? I've been going through the tutorial but when I got to page 9 and did R CMD SHLIB Xdemo.cc Xdemo_main.cc -o Xdemo.dll I got

Does dlltools in 64-bit rtools for windows support 64-bit machine type?
Hi, I've been trying to get the python bridge (rpy2) to build for 64-bit R and python. The current stumbling block is that mingw can't use the python27.lib file that comes with CPython and so I need to generate libpython27.a. When I use dlltool from rtools to do that however, I end up with a 32-bit file: >"G:\Rtools\gcc-4.6.3\i686-w64-mingw32\bin\dlltool" -e libpython27.a

AW: running Rcmd INSTALL, again
Indeed, there is no file named "dlltool" anywhere around here! So, at last I am beginning to suspect that my collection of tools is incomplete. What I have got is "rw1020sp.zip" and "http://www.stats.ox.ac.uk/pub/bdr/RWin/tools.zip". These are properly istalled, I think. readme.packages says "If your package has no C nor Fortran nor C++ sources, see `Simple

Error 127 and dlltool
Hello: Many thanks to Professor Ripley for responding to my earlier post, included below, about trying to use mingw32 gcc.I did put back the original Rinternals.h. I am still crashing R every time I try to use C code. Here is what I did, basd on readme.packages: 1.) Ensured that C:\Rtools was first in my path, and obtained a new tools.zip from BDR's R tools site. 2.) Ensured that I

Error compiling ROracle on Windows 2000
Hello, I am trying to compile ROracle _0.5-4 under R 1.9.0 without much success. I am running Windows 2000 SP4, Visual C++ 6.0 SP6, and Oracle client 9.2.0.1.0. Here is the output from nmake: C:\Program Files\R\rw1090\library\ROracle\src>nmake Microsoft (R) Program

Rcmd SHLIB under NT
Hello: I'm trying to use Rcmd SHLIB to compile a single file, sann.c, to get sann.dll. I was able to get make libR.a to work, after going into MkRules and changing the line DLLTOOL=$(BINPREF)dlltool -k --as $(AS) to read DLLTOOL=C:/MINGW-1.1/bin/dlltool -k --as $(AS) But now I get: C:\rw1051\src\gnuwin32>Rcmd SHLIB sann.c make: make: Command not found make: *** [libR] Error 127

Creating a Windows import lib from R.dll (x64)?
Hello, The procedure for creating an import library (Rdll.lib) that is documented in gnuwin32/README.packages works fine using the i386 architecture, but it doesn't seem to work under x64. Specifically, the procedure is: pexports R.dll > R.exp lib /def:R.exp /out:Rdll.lib /machine:X86 R.dll There are two issues under x64: 1. Older version of pexports crash when applied to an x64 R.dll.

RFC: A new llvm-dlltool driver and llvm-lib driver improvements
Hey llvm'ers, I have been working on a dlltool replacement for llvm. Here is my initial differential https://reviews.llvm.org/D29892 It is based on some functionality that already exists in lld. I added functionality to support, PE COFF Weak Externals and of course a front end to actually use it. I believe the work here can also be used for llvm-lib and lessen the load on lld. I would like

[LLVMdev] [LLD] support for dlltool generated libs in COFF/PECOFF
Hi Rui, Thanks for getting back to me on this Do you think that you can make dlltool to generate short import libraries? > If you can, it would be the easiest way to solve the issue. > On my current tests ld seems to not like libraries built with short import libraries so this would require an ABI break in binutils. dlltool has support for loads of legacy targets and changing this would
