3d in R
Dear R-users and R-developpers,
I've not been able to find 3d graphics in R, like
Splus spin() or brush(). Are there any that I've missed
and/or is anybody working on implementing these
type of functions?
Thanks

scatterplot brushing
Is there a package (other than xgobi which requires an X server) that
will do scatterplot brushing? I see a mention in the mail archive of
R-orca by Anthony Rossini but it is not in the current list of
packages.
My OS is Windows XP version 5.1, service pack 2
R version 2.4.1 (2006-12-18)
Thanks

3D scatter, groups, RdbiPgSQL...
hello,
I wish to create some 3d scatter diagrams visualising different grouped
data set by a given field in the database. I tried the scatterplot3d
package, as well as the plot3d and scatter3d functions (both within the
rgl resp. Rcmdr package). My first question is, whether is it possibe to
group data in the scatterplot3d and plot3d, because I did not succeed to
use the groups = ...

3D visualization using vtk library
has there been any attempt to improve the 3D visualization (interactive)
features in R, using the vtk library?
It seems fairly straight forward.
maybe even trivial for somebody who has experience with vtk library.
let me know if there are any obvious reasons i may have overlooked
thanks, in advance for any feedback

TrueType fonts, 3d modellers and wine
Hello,
Many 3d modellers can use TrueType fonts to create 3D objects of words.
Lightwave and Behemont are two that spring to mind. I can't find any on
linux.
However, both lightwave and behemont give me the error:
fixme:commdlg:CFn_WMInitDialog No font found with truetype only,
dropping flag
This is after the font has been correctly displayed in a "font
selection" box. The

3D trajectory plot?
Hello,
I'm attempting to create a smooth, 3D plot of a trajectory (rather
than the cloud or wireframe functions). I would rather the individual
data points not be visible. I've had no luck finding this on the
graphics or help pages. Thank you in advance. Chris
Some example data, just in case:

2 12 25

Help with rgl
Hi,
I don't know much about the RGL package, and I have read the
documentation and tried some parameters, with no luck... I would like
to generate a movie from a 3D object (code below), where the vortex A
is closer to the observer, and then the object rotates and the B
vortex gets closer. I would like to capture this movie to a file.
By the way, I am not being able to insert unicode text

3D graphics with R
Is there any graphical frontend/secondary programm (freely availible for
Windowsor Linux) which can be used with R to display the results of a
principle component analysis in 3D space (rotatable!?)? It works with
Spotfire, but is there any freely or cheaply availible programm?

xgobi?
Hi all,
As far as I understood from the documentation of xgobi. The package is
intended to plot data in 3D (and more). Why if I enter example(xgobi)
nothing displays even though the example calls also the xgobi command (yes I
did load the library)? Do I need to install anything else for xgobi to work?
I use R 1.6.1. on Windows 2000 platform or R 1.5.1 with RedHat 7.3 (none
works).

Multidimensional scaling
A student of mine wants to use R to do some nonmetric multidimensional
scaling. According to the R FAQ, there's a package called pcurve that
computes multidimensional scaling solutions, but I was not able to locate
it the contrib page (I am a Windows user with R version 1.4.1). Can
anyone tell me whether it is possible to do nonmetric multidimensional
scaling with R, and if so, how?

misc3d Contour export to vtk
So I wanted to export a contour3d object into VTK and it worked well
enough, except the top of the ball (the contour) was missing. Example
below, or gist here:
https://gist.github.com/muschellij2/5126544
rm(list=ls())
require(misc3d)
f <- function(x, y, z) x^2+y^2+z^2
x <- seq(-2,2,len=20)
ball <- contour3d(f,4,x,x,x, draw=FALSE)
drawScene.rgl(ball)

(Fwd) Re: 3d in R
In Win95/NT you can use xgobi (program and R interface) as well,
provided you will install an x-server on your machine (a free one is
available from http://www.microimages.com/freestuf/mix/).

What does persp() return?
I want to plot some 3D points on top of the grid produced by persp().
On 2/22/01, Paul Murrell <paul at stat.auckland.ac.nz> wrote in R-help:

But persp() does return something (in R-1.5.1): a 4x4 matrix which in the C
code is called the

I have been trying to get Xgobi to work with the function xgobi( ), but
I keep on getting the message ""Xgobi requires a filename or some data
