Haerdle Library
Has anyone had success in installing and using the Haerdle library of
functions available for S-Plus? Is it as straightforward as copying the
files into the library directory for R?
Thanks in advance. I'm using R on Windows.
Samir.

Windows <--> UNIX File Conversion
I thought I'd field this question in case someone has already done this,
before proceeding with trying to develop a function on my own.
I'm generating a number of files and to keep track of them, I'm also
outputting the names of these files to external files & datasets. Depending
on the platform I'm working on, Windows or Unix, i'd like to be able to

nstall.packages
Hi!
I am new to R. I want to install "packages" from Package Sources in the
web. I follow the instruction and use the "install.packages" but no
luck.
Here is what I did:

DSE revised for R 0.90.1
A slightly revised version of my DSE package for multi-variate time series
analysis is now available at <www.bank-banque-canada.ca/pgilbert>. This
version works with R 0.90.1 (and not with R 90.0 or earlier versions). It can
also be installed with

fatal: Not enough entropy in RNG
Hi,
I'm running openssh 2.1.1p4 on Solaris 7 (sparc). Occationally, when I
boot up the server, the startup script I wrote to start sshd fails to start
sshd with the following error:
fatal: Not enough entropy in RNG
What am I doing wrong??
Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening?
Is just restarting sshd a valid thing to do??
Thanks for any thoughts,
David

openssh on LynxOS issues! - Changes and addons.
Hi,
With reference to my previous mail:
1. I use openssh-2.9p2 on a LynxOS i386 system. The
ssh and scp clients work fine. Even sftp from other
Linux systems works. But, if I run the sftp client in
LynxOS to localhost (LynxOS) or remote sshd in Linux,
the authentication succeeds, prints sftp> prompt and
then exits. I don't know why this happens. The problem
is with the sftp client

Centos 8 and Lynx
Folks
I find the Lynx browser does not appear in any of the repositories
used during default installation of Centos 8 (x86_64). Is this
program no longer supported? I didn't see a reference to it in the
notsupported list.

Problems connecting to httpd help server with some browsers
Hello,
sorry to provide only very little testing, but with the release date nearing,
I thought it better to report this quickly than to wait for an uncertain
period until I find more time.
I'm observing strange problems connecting to the httpd help server with
konqueror (KDE 4.3.1):

Some users cannot read mail: assertion failed
Hi all!
I am a recent user of dovecot. First of all, the migration from UW-IMAP was definitely
worth it. But now I've run into some troubles. Two of my users complain that they
can't read their Inboxes, but other folders work fine. The error message I get in the
logs look like:
lynx imap(gheorghe.bancos): file buffer.c: line 357 (buffer_set_start_pos): assertion

URGENT REPOST: Maximum number of fil
Hi Joel,
We essentially have the following directory structure:
/images/yyyy/mm/dd/nn
For each day of the year we get in the region of 120,000 images, which are split down into 100 subdirectories to prevent their being too many files in one directory.
The directory /images is shared out as follows:
[images]
comment = Imaging Files
path = /images
public = yes
writable = yes

samba through a firewall
Hi
I have samba installed & running successfully on a Solaris 8 server.
directory shares were working as expected until the machine was put on a
DMZ, and now it's stopped working. I can ping from my PC to the server, and
telnet, but samba seems to have no route through the firewall - possibly the
firewall needs to have different ports opened up to allow samba traffic
through? I need to
