tcltk package functionality
Hello, I wrote a function in R which uses tcltk package .... essentially I wanted to give within that function, a widget with 2 radiobuttons to choose between plotting Precip and Temperature plots. After the user has chosen one of the radiobuttons there is another widget that asking him to identify outliers. However, I am having a lot of problems...what R does is evaluate the whole function

Is it R or I?
Salutations: I have been trying to translate a S-PLUS/ArcInfo (GIS software) application that I wrote on a SGI (IRIX) platform to public domain R and GrassGIS on a Linux platform. I am almost on the verge of abandoning it as I find R to be rather unstable, slow and frustrating. I enclose a section of my code for R experts to examine hoping that they'll point out that all the above three are

tkentry that exits after RETURN?
I can set up an entry widget (thanks to an old post by Barry Rowlingson) that gets a password and exits when the user clicks on the "OK" button. Anyone have any clever ideas for returning/ destroying the window when the user types a carriage return/ENTER in the text window? I've messed around a little with validate, validatecommand, but don't see any obvious way to do it ...

possible tcltk event loop problem
Dear list members, Rich Heiberger reported to me last week that the Messages window in the Rcmdr GUI was freezing -- that is, messages posted to this window didn't appear -- under Windows and R 2.8.0. I was able to confirm this problem on three Windows systems, one using Vista and the other two XP. In each case, I used R 2.8.0 and Rcmdr 1.4-4 (the current version). The problem doesn't

hello, i would like program userfriendly tcl/tk widgets like the t-test example in a more complex way ! (1) Is it not possible to combine tk_getOpenFile with the R function read.table to select in userfriendly way data sets ? (I'm newbie and take code-parts from t-test example and scripting example.) Problem with geometry manager in TclTK
Hello, everyone. I have the following problem with TclTk: I create some windows and want to change their position with geometry manage (sometimes they will be centered, sometimes not). If the toplevel is created and its dimensions are gathered via 'tkwinfo', I get (usually) correct values. However, if this window is created by a function (in the following example, by 'ask.format')

gif, jpeg and png image files reader AND tcltk image
Hi all, Roger Peng and Jason Turner's suggestion with ImageMagick seem to be the simplest "dirty" way to get the problem solved. But I ran into yet another interesting but quite round-about way to solve the problem (partially). Through tcltk package, one can read in the gif image with > x <- tkcmd("image", "create", "photo", file=mypic.gif)

monitor a simulation with a special console box?
I like to monitor simulation by reporting some current values to the console, every 25th iteration say. I think it might be nice to have that appear in a separate window. Anyone know how? regards, David Farrar New River Analytic [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Copy & Paste from tktext on Mac
Hi there, a text Window is supposed to map the shortcuts for copying and pasting (<Ctrl-C>, <Ctrl-V>) automatically. I'm working under Mac OS X and my text window doesn't really map these functions automatically - it works fine under Windows. Is there an easy way to map copy&paste functions to a text window under Mac OS X? This is what I'm doing with my text

tcltk - text widget with a scrollbar?
Can anyone show me how to connect a scrollbar to a text widget using the tcltk library? I'm confused about how to make sure the two widgets know about each other and how to set up the appropriate call-backs for scrolling. Radio Buttons or similars
Hello companions!!! I have a function that creates a Radio Buttons, and I need that this function return the selected value in the Radio Buttons. I would like that, if somebody know as I could return the value, you say me as do it. Next, I show the function function1<-function(){ require(tcltk) tt <- tktoplevel() rb1 <- tkradiobutton(tt) rb2 <- tkradiobutton(tt) rbValue <-

tcltk resizing when using tkgrid for layout
I've been able to figure out on my own how to do what I need in the largely undocumented tcltk package, but I've finally hit a wall. I can't even think of any sufficiently specific search terms to use for this. I'm trying to make the widgets in my tk window resize when the window is resized by clicking and dragging on its corners or edges. Instead they stay exactly where they

Retrieving data from a tcl /tk function
Hello, I am sorry if this is an answered question, but I did my homework for a long while and couldn't figure out a way to retrieve data entry from a model dialog. In one of the examples compiled by James Wettenhall: odalDialog <- function(title, question, entryInit, entryWidth = 20, returnValOnCancel = "ID_CANCEL") { dlg <- tktoplevel() tkwm.deiconify(dlg)

tcltk and locator interaction
I was trying to write a small routine using the tcltk library which allows a little bit of interaction with a plot. Basically, using the function locator(1), a user could click on an area of a graph which would cause a little tcltk window to pop up. When they have finished with the window, they click on a tcltk button, the window disappears, allowing the user to select another point on the graph

Tcl/Tk window lingering too long
I want to set up a simple Tk dialog interface to a function in R, such that when the "OK" button is pressed, the dialog window is destroyed and then R does its work on the data/parameters/whatever that were entered in the dialog. The function "test" below is a simple prototype. My problem: upon running test() and hitting "OK", R does its work (ie, computes
