interp.surface() error (PR#7745)
R version: 2.001 OS: Windows XP SP2 When I use the interp.surface() function, on occasion I have encountered the following error message: Error in interp.surface(a, loc) : subscript out of bounds Since it is somewhat dependent on the data set, I cannot say exactly in which cases these occur, but I believe I have found the problem and a solution for it: The scaling calculations in the code,

Error Bars in lattice- barcharts
Hello, I am attempting to write a script that adds error bars to a barchart. I basing my attempt heavily on the following thread: http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/e2/help/06/10/2791.html I can't seem to get around the problem that was discussed in the thread. The following example should illustrate my problem. Sorry about the messy example but I am 1) trying to make it as close as possible

[LLVMdev] Hello + Noobish question
Hi everyone! I recently subscribed your mailing list, as I find the LLVM project interesting. I've read the document known as "Compiler hacker's introduction to LLV"[1], and I've learnt about LLVM-IR. I was wondering about the impact of such a representation on mixing code from different languages. Suppose we have a huge library X written in language LX, which we would be

Request - adding recycled "lwd" parameter to polygon
Hello dear members of R-help and R-core mailing list, I am not sure if this request is a "ticket" that should be filled somewhere outside the mailing list. If so, I apologize for not doing and would like to know where I should have filled it. And to the subject matter: I would like to use a command like this: plot(c(1,8), 1:2, type="n") polygon(1:7, c(2,1,2,NA,2,1,2),

pmnorm: probabilites don't sum up to 1
Dear list member, I struggle with the problem, why the probabilities of choosing one of three mutually exclusive alternatives don?t sum up to 1! Let?s assume we have three alternatives X, Y, and Z. Let?s further assume we know their respective utilities: uX, uY, uZ. I?m interested in calculating the probability of choosing X, Y, and Z. Since I assume that the alternatives are mutually

Patch proposal for logspace_sub
G'day all, I am working on problems where I have to calculate the logarithm of a sum or difference from the logarithms of the individual terms; so the functions logspace_add and logspace_sub which are part of R's API come in handy. However, I noticed that logspace_sub can have problems if both arguments are (very) small or the difference between the arguments are vary small. The logic

twoord.plot y lab size
I am using twoord.plot and my Y axis units on the left y overlap. I tried using cex.axis in my par command but that only adjusted the x units, not the y. cex.axis in twoord.plot did not help. How do I adjust Y units in the twoord.plot? example: twoord.plot (lx=myear, ly=z, rx=myear, ry=sta,xlim=c(1985,2010), xlab="Year",ylab="Individuals", rylab="# Stations") --

Forcing scalar multiplication.
I am trying to check the results from an Eigen decomposition and I need to force a scalar multiplication. The fundamental equation is: Ax = lx. Where 'l' is the eigen value and x is the eigen vector corresponding to the eigenvalue. 'R' returns the eigenvalues as a vector (e <- eigen(A); e$values). So in order to 'check' the result I would multiply the eigenvalues

R on Macintosh OSX Tiger
Hi. I'm not having any luck installing the binary for the new Macintosh OS called "Tiger". I get error messages as below. Can anyone offer me some advice? (PS: I checked the bug list first but a search on "Tiger" turned up nothing so I hope it's OK to post here.) Error in dyn.load(x, as.logical(local), as.logical(now)) : unable to load shared

R-beta: plot annotation
I have a bunch of curves on a plot and I would like to label each curve. Currently, if I place the text right on the curve it is hard to read because the text and the curve overlap. I would like to make a label on an opaque white box just slightly larger than the label, and this sits on top of the curve. (This is easy to do in drawing programs on the Mac) If I have the label || and the line

all.equal() improvements (PR#8191)
--k1lZvvs/B4yU6o8G Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline The attached patch against R 2.2.0 makes the following improvements to the all.equal() function: 1. Check names! Stock R all.equal() (unlike S-Plus) ignores names completely on some objects. I consider this wrong - if the names are different, the object is NOT "the same". 2. When a

I just came across the matrixStats package, ## EXAMPLE #1 lx <- c(1000.01, 1000.02) y0 <- log(sum(exp(lx))) print(y0) ## Inf y1 <- logSumExp(lx) print(y1) ## 1000.708 and > ly <- lx*100000 > ly [1] 100001000 100002000 > y1 <- logSumExp(ly) > print(y1) [1] 100002000

cartograms in R?
Q: Has anyone implemented cartograms [**] in R? A search on the R site turned up https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-sig-geo/2005-December/000698.html which led to http://www.okada.jp.org/RWiki/index.php?cmd=read&page=Rmap%A4%F2%BB% C8%A4%C3%A4%BF%C3%CF%BF%DE%C9%BD%BC%A8&word=Rmap#content_1_35 which has (one form of) a cartogram as a PNG, but which doesn't seem to have code.
