Fukuoka Ruby Award--about $10,000 for first prize
I am working with the Government of Fukuoka, Japan to get the word out about the Fukuoka Ruby Award to Ruby developers in the US. It is free to apply for this award. The top prize is about $10,000. Deadline is December 25, so there is not much time, but the application is fairly simple for developers who have existing projects. Here are the details: Fukuoka Ruby Award

normalizing prizes to a specific year - how to?
Dear list I have a large data frame with house prices. Prices have been converted to price per m2, to be able to compare. Prices are spread over almost 10 years, each price is tagged with the year it relates to. I would like to 'normalize' all the prices to, eg. 2010 prices. The data frame looks like this > head(dafP) Y P 1 2004 11199.60 2 2005 15310.10 3 2005 19491.50 4

Merging labels on Pie chart
Dear R Help Members, I need to draw a pie chart for someone and there are 3 small slices in it identifying different species, all 0.7%, who’s labels overlap so you cannot read them. Is there a way to have only 1 label the three slices, so as to merge the three labels into one without merging the 3 slices? Alternatively, is there a way to extend the pointing lines, so that they could be different

bounties for exploits against CentOS?
With companies like Facebook and Google offering cash prizes for people who can find security holes in their products, has there ever been any consideration given to offering cash rewards to people finding security exploits in CentOS or in commonly bundled services like Apache? (Provided of course they follow "responsible disclosure" and report the exploit to the software authors

Plotting Discriminants from qda
Dear R Help Members, I am aware how to plot the LD1 vs LD2 from a lda in R, using the code: plot(baseline.systat.hat$x, col=baseline.systat.hat$class,pch=as.numeric(baseline.systat.hat$class)) However, I need to use the quadratic discriminant function, qda due to data properties. Is there a way to obtain the same sort of plot for from a qda object (and the output of predict qda). I have not

Fw: showing ratio in ggplot bar plot with facets
Dear R help members, I have constructed a bar plot using ggplot, where I am showing the number of particles in 10m depth bins (from 0-150m) by release area (3 different ones) and Model (also 3 different ones). My problem is that for each release area a different number of particles was released (say 35, 45 and 56). I now need to be able to show the number of particles in each depth bin

Samba on ICL's NX7 operating system
Hello, Has anyone out there ever tried installing Samba on an ICL machine running the NX7 operating system? We have are going to attempt it, and I was wondering did anyone have any pointers for us, either in the installation or the configuration. Because the native compiler is limited on the ICL, we are going to install gcc first, then compile Samba with it. I would be very grateful for
