bug on cancor (PR#116)
When I use the function cancor of mva package, I found that it doesn't
work when one of the matrix has only one column, or both have only
one column. The function in Splus 5 with the same name works under those
situations.
The version of R I am using is 0.63.2 (released on Jan., 1999) on Solaris.

PRESS criterion in leaps
I'm interested in writing some model selection functions (for linear
regression models, as a start), which incorporate the PRESS criterion since
it, to my knowledge, is not currently implemented in any available model
selection procedure.
I thought it would be simplest to build on already existing functions like
regsubsets in package leaps. It's easy enough to calculate the PRESS

Leaps & regsubsets
Hello
I am trying to use all subsets regression on a test dataset consisting
of 11 trails and 46 potential predictor variables.
I would like to use Mallow's Cp as a selection criterion.
The leaps function would provide the required output but does not work
with this many variables (see below).
The alternative function regsubsets should be used, but I am not able to
define the function in

Calculation of BIC done by leaps-package
Hi Folks,
I've got a question concerning the calculation of the Schwarz-Criterion
(BIC) done by summary.regsubsets() of the leaps-package:
Using regsubsets() to perform subset-selection I receive an regsubsets
object that can be summarized by summary.regsubsets(). After this
operation the resulting summary contains a vector of BIC-values
representing models of size i=1,...,K.
My problem

regsubsets selection criterion
Hello,
I am using the 'regsubsets' function
(from leaps package)
to get the best linear models
to explain 1 variable
from 1 to 5 explanatory variables
(exhaustive search).
Is there anyone who can tell me
on which criterion is based
the 'regsubsets' function ?
Thank you.

All possible subsets model selection using AICc
Hello List,
I was wondering if a package or piece of code exists that will allow all
possible subsets regression model selection within program R. I have
already looked at step(AIC) which does not test differing combinations
of variables within a model as far as I can tell. In addition I tried
to use the leaps command, but that does not use the criterion I am
looking for. Any help or advice

How to compare linear models with intercept and those without intercept using minimizing adjs R^2 strategy
Dear R-list,
I apologize for my many emails but I think I know how to desctribe my
problem differently and more clearly.
My question is how to compare linear models with intercept and those without
intercept using maximizing adjusted R^2 strategy.
Now I do it like the following:
> library(leaps)
> n=20
> x=matrix(rnorm(n*3),ncol=3)
> b=c(1,2,0)
> intercept=1

[Openmp-dev] How to get the function definition of a kmpc_micro call
Thanks Arpith for this pointer but it did not contain what I was looking
for.
However, I solved my issue by finding that the BitCastInst used when
outlining OpenMP parallel region offers a method for retrieving the
original value within the bitcast via stripPointerCasts().
So what I did to retrieve omp_outlined..45 is:
//bitcast is the third argument of __kmpc_fork_call

leaps question
Colleagues,
please help me with the simple question.
How can I find R2 and p while doing best subsets regression? Also how
can I see B and p for coefficients?
Maybe you can advice me detailed manual, because in manual for the
package this is not described.
Thank you

Forward Stepwise regression based on partial F test
I am hoping to get some advise on the following:
I am looking for an automatic variable selection procedure to reduce the
number of potential predictor variables (~ 50) in a multiple regression
model.
I would be interested to use the forward stepwise regression using the
partial F test.
I have looked into possible R-functions but could not find this
particular approach.

Leaps and bound
Hi,
I used the bic.surv function, S-PLUS functions developed by Chris Volinsky
http://www.research.att.com/~volinsky/bma.html, without problems with
S-PLUS.
I have to use it with R but I am face with a problem: this function call a
fortran routine named "leaps" (answer <- .Fortran("leaps", arguments)). I
loaded the leaps library, and the leaps function work well with my R,

compiling gap on mac os x
Hi, I am having trouble compiling package gap
http://www.hgmp.mrc.ac.uk/~jzhao/r-progs.htm on Tiger. I have installed
XcodeTools 2.1. The binary version of gap currently available on CRAN
has some bug and is fixed in the latest version.
The message I get from R is below. Any help is greatly appreciated.

where to get the "leaps" package
Dear all
I am supposed to use Mallow's Cp creterion to select a model which require
a "leaps" package. the version right now I am using is R
1.7.1(os:windows), the "leaps" package is not included. please let me know
how and where
can I get this package and add it to the current version, any caution on
adding this package is highly appreciated.

Object finalization
I see some code in R to attach finalizers to external pointer references
(Register[C]Finalizer). Anyone have an example of how to code the
finalizer? R_RegisterCFinalizer accepts a C function, but I can't see
how to get it to operate on the pointer, since the pointer is not passed
to the function when its called. RegisterFinalizer takes an R closure,
but how is it called from R (tried

Error in leaps.setup
Hullo,
I am trying to use the leaps package, & keep getting the following error:
Error in leaps.setup(x, y, wt = wt, nbest = nbest, nvmax = NCOL(x) + int, :
y and x different lengths
My data set is attached below.
I am rather new to R, & would appreciate any help that could be given.
Thanks.

leaps and bounds
Dear friends. On the Bayesian averaging homepage http://www.research.att.com/~volinsky/bma.html I found
some S code some of which perhaps may run in R. There was a call to an algorithm possibly within S but not supported by R 64.1: "leaps and bounds". I guess it is a minimization step. Can anyone clarify the algorithm and perhaps even give a pointer to some code ?
I guess this may be
