GIF graphics device
Is there a GIF graphics device or some other way to generate a GIF from an R plot instead of postscript? Then, I could paste a plot right into PowerPoint or Word. -- Terry J. How to generate a report with graphics and tables?
Hello R-Users, I have some data sets which change on a daily bases. So far I have imported these sets into R, done all my evaluations resulting in a couple of plots, charts and tables of numbers which I copy&pasted via clipboard into Powerpoint. The procedure is always the same and I wonder, whether there is no easier way for doing so. Is there some type of "report generator"

Strange behaviour of R graphics copied to PowerPoint
Hello, I am using R to create graphics, especially to plot time series charts. These charts are then copied as metafiles (for best quality) to a PowerPoint presentation and then saved to PDF (via the "Save As" dialog"). Attached is two pictures. The first picture shows how my chart looks like in the R Graphics window, and the second picture shows how the chart becomes after saving

fidelity of generated raster images (R and perl)
Hi: Goal: use R to turn a matrix of 1's and 0's into a corresponding image (e.g. png) of black and white pixels. Why R: Yes, I can do this more efficiently and precisely with a perl module like Image::PBM. Been there, done that many times, etc. (Just humor me. I'm trying to do this with R for a number of reasons.) Problem:

using underscore character in column names
Suppose you're reading data from a file in which the column names contain underscore characters. Example: ------ start of file ----- pos_x pos_y 1.0 0.0 2.0 1.0 ------ end of file ------- Using read.table, I can read this file just fine: > data <- read.table (file="data", head=T) > data pos_x pos_y 1 1 0 2 2 1 > However, I can't

slides in linux R
Hello, In S-Plus Windows you can transform graphics to Powerpoint very easily, in R Windows you can use enhanced metafiles (.emf) and Powerpoint almost as easy. Is there a simular way with R in Linux to transform to the presentation program in StarOffice or OpenOffice or are you stuck with the pdf device? Fredrik Lundgren

HTML Output from R
Task: To generate HTML output from R Details: I am trying to serve up HTML output from R. That is analyses or table of data from R saved as HTML output with formatted tables etc. This file is then called in a CGI script to output to user browser. The CGI script inspired by Mark J. Ray reads the HTML output, formats the header and footer and any graphic output if necessary. My question is: Has

using R interactively
1) Is it possible to erase data points, legends, and/or text from an R plot? 2) What's the best way to find the closest data point to what locator() returns? For more background and some context on these questions, read on... In using R interactively, I am displaying further details about a specific data point when the user clicks on the plot point. Here's a simple example: #

Missing functions in package e1071(Win*)
Hi! After unziping the CRAN file e1071.zip on my Win95 library directory, I start R and type >library(e1071) After that, help commands of the e1071 functions work (i.e., help(read.pnm), BUT some functions themselves are not available: > read.pnm Error: Object "read.pnm" not found I've looked at the file library/R/e1071 with an ascii editor and it seems like the functions

File opening error after 1020 files opened
Hi, I am trying to use "read.pnm" from the package "pixmap" to read more than 10 thousand image files in "mydir". > file.list <- dir( "mydir", full=T) > for( i in 1:length(file.list) ) { print(i) x <- read.pnm(file.list[i]) } In the beginning it was fine. But after reading 1020 images or so, the read.pnm function seems to crash on

PICT output?
hi, all. I use R on a unix (linux) box and am quite happy with it. However, sometimes I need to create a graph that needs to be used with Microsoft Word or Powerpoint (ug). I can create a png or jpeg format picture, but the text look pretty crummy because jpeg is bitmapped. I can also create a PS/EPS version (my preference), but then it doesn't display properly in word or powerpoint (but it

Pixmap problem
Hi, I'm having trouble writing .pnm images which I think is due to a problem with my colour space. The pixmap object seems to be looking for 72 of 8 colours (one per cell?) which doesn't seem healthy... > library(pixmap) > x <- pixmapIndexed(rep(1:8, 9), nrow=6, col=rainbow(8)) > x Pixmap image Type : pixmapIndexed Size : 6x12 Resolution : 1x1

read.pnm question in R-beta
In R-beta (Masked Marvel), when I do the example from the read.pnm help file, this is what happens: x <- read.pnm(system.file("pictures/logo.pgm",package="pixmap")[1]) Warning message: In rep(cellres, length=2): x is NULL so the result will be NULL In R-2.15.3, it's all right. people, I'm using the pixmap library and method read.pnm() for to read figures and it's giving the following error: Error in substr(inpstr, com1, stop = ns) : evaluation is nested too deeply: infinite recursion?
