Could not create DVI version
In Solaris with R-1.7.0beta from 2003-04-01 I still have a problem with
"R CMD check" after I build a package:
* creating setRNG-manual.tex ... OK
* checking setRNG-manual.tex ... ERROR
Could not create DVI version.
This typically indicates Rd problems.
I can manually gererate the dvi from setRNG-manual.tex, so I don't think
my latex is defective as I speculated last week. The file

Isotopic notation in plots
I really like to use R for all my graphs, and as I work with stable
isotopes I want to have a proper chemical notation in my plots
I have looked at ?plotmath, but didn't find the answer and also searched
the R website.

R-3.6.2 make check fails
I am trying to build the latest version of R (3.6.2) on a CentOS system running 7.7.1908.
I have been able to build previous versions of R up to and including 3.5.3 successfully. Starting with 3.6.0
the "make check" step fails with errors relating to "pdflatex" being missing. So, I installed texlive-latex
(and the 100 other rpm dependencies) then tried rebuilding R.

R-0640 Windows
From: "Heberto Ghezzo" <heberto at MEAKINS.Lan.McGill.CA>
Please be patient: rw0640 was only released very late on Monday, and
this is not my primary occupation! In some cases you _need_ the
versions of pre-built packages for rw0640: there is no version of sm
for rw0640 there, yet. I have one working, but not yet fully tested. (I
put one up briefly but removed it pending testing

R-0.64.0 Install - Cannot find eda.so
Hi,
I'm new to R. I'm trying to install R-0.64.0 on FreeBSD 2.2.8 (also
new to FreeBSD). First, I run ./configure and then make. Make gives me
an error message because it cannot find "eda.so" when trying to link
it with line.o and smooth.o (see output below).
I would appreciate it if somone could help me to fix this error. Thanks.

No subject
Hello,
I just tried the rw0640 version for Windows95.
If I type
link.html.help()
a

appears. Does anyone knows what to type in after that,
it seems that some input is required?
Thanks

help on compilation of R help file in LaTeX format.
Dear all,
I hope to know how to compile the R help file in LaTeX format under
Windows 2000. The TeX/LaTeX system is TeXLive 2002, and the version of
R is 1.8.x.
Another question, I hope to get the upright Greek letters, just as
these in Prof. Faraway's book "Practical Regression and Anova in R",
but I don't know which package(s) and/or font(s) should be used in
LaTeX.

autoconf problem fixex, now other probs...
Hi there.
I mentioned in my before postings that I had compile errors
because of some automake incompatiblity. Now after installing
redhat 8 these are fixed, and the ogg directory compiled fine,
but vorbis gave me an error while it wanted to make a pdf
file. (!! Why the hell would a make want to create a pdf?!?)
These are some parts of the error log as the whole is too long:

Unzipping R-0.64.0
Downloaded R-0.64.0.tgz to update my work system, but found that I could
not unzip it.
Neither
gzip -d R-0.64.0.tgz
nor
tar -zxvf R-0.64.0.tgz
would work due to an "Unexpected end of file" error, which seems to
occur after the 'fourier.c' file. I have previously had no problem with
such files from CRAN. Anyone else had this problem? Or even better,

Problems with "help(topic,offline=T)"
Hello everybody,
since I installed R-0.90.0 (Linux 2.0.25) I have problems with generating
printable output with 'help()'.
Default output to the terminal ('echo $PAGER' gives 'less') works o.k..
When invoking 'help(topic,offline=T)' all the usual procedures seem to
start: 'top' reports invocation of latex as well as of dvips. But after
finishing there is
