stamp function in R
Dear R experts,
currently I'm converting a bit of trivial
Splus code to R.
In Splus I came across the stamp function.
Does R have something similar?
Thank you very much for your time.

P.S.: Keep up the good work on R.
It's great!

How to fill the aerea under a plot?
Dear R users,
I hope that this question is not too dumb,
but I can't figure out how to do it.
I plot a function, e.g.
plot(sin, -pi, 2*pi).
Then I would like to have the aerea
from the x-axis up to the graph
from x ranging from -3 to 0, shaded
red and the other part (x from 0 to 6) under
the graph e.g. green or sth. like that..
Any hints on how to do that?
I could draw lines (different

saving plots
Hi all, I am have an R script that makes many plots, and I would like to
string them into a movie file. To do that I have to save all of my plots as
jpegs or gifs. I don't want to go through all of my plots and save them by
hand though. Is there a way to automate saving the plots as a gif or a jpeg
so I can string them into a movie?
Thanks in advance

Graphics output device
Dear developers,
I wonder would you consider making a save to a graphics file format (as opposed
to ps)?
What prompts this is that we have just finished my wife's thesis using R
heavily for stats and graphs. The combination of latex, bibtex and R generated
.eps worked a treat and we were very pleased with both the final outcome and
the efficiency of gernerating it, especially when all the

animation?
I was wondering if anyone out there has created a series of images (e.g.
jpegs) using R, then animated them on a web page. I have looked around a
bit and it seems fairly complicated. One approach that seems sensible is
to use a java script that displays the list of images. I have only used
html on web pages before so I don't know how to use java...
Ideally the final result is easily ported to

HOW to Create Movies with R with repeated plot()?
Dear R-helpers,
Is it possible to create a type of 'movie' in R based on the output of
several figures (e.g., jpegs) via the plot() function. I obtained dynamic
results with the plotting function and would like to save these as a movie
(e.g., avi or other formats)?
Regards,
Jan

OT: PSTOWMF
Hallo,
I've produced via R-0.62 several Life-tables 50*6 (mfrow=c(2,3))
as postscriptgraphs. The phd student, who asked for this, use word for
windows--therefore i converted the whole stuff with pstoimg to gifs.
Unlikly the result is not sufficient (I was told)...
Is there a tool to convert ps to wmf/emf ? I looked for it but haven't
found anything...
Thanks for an answer

New functions supporting GIF file format in R
Hi,
A minor announcement. I just added two functions for reading and writing GIF
files to my caTools package. Input and output is in the form of standard R
matrices or arrays, and standard R color-maps (palettes). The functions can
read and write both regular GIF images, as well as, multi-frame animated
GIFs. Most of the work is done in C level code (included), so functions do
not use any

RGtk2 : Using GtkImage with GIF (PR#10757)
Full_Name: Hans Dieter
Version: 2.6.1
OS: Windows
Submission from: (NULL) (217.93.95.129)
Hi,
I build a GUI with RGtk2 and used an GtkImage to display pictures like jpegs and
others. This works but if I load a gif-Image it's not animated. It show's only
the first picture, in general an GtkImage can display an animated gif.
Greetings

xloadimage in centos 5.1
I have noticed that xloadimage rpm is not in centos 5.1
I use the command "xview -identity" to get the size of gifs, jpgs, and pngs.
xview is part of the xloadimage package.
The command "file filename" also reports sizes for gifs and pngs BUT not
for jpgs.
Is there an alternative command to use to report gif jpg and png sizes?
I thought about just getting an older

Output Graphics GIF
Dear R users,
How could I managed graphics in GIF format? What I have been doing is
graphics in *.ps or *.eps and after I convert them using CONVERT (from
ImageMagick) but the output quality is not good. Since these graphics will
be use for other users they must have a better image quality.
I really appreciate any help,

Creating gif files using R
Greetings,
I am a new user of R but a long time fan of S (Splus) and have
installed R version 0.65.1 on a
Windows NT machine. I would like to save plots as gif files and have
been using savePlot()
with some success. I found that savePlot would not work without
modification, namely
decrementing the device by 1 before calling the internal routine that
does the conversion. Once

Generating barcodes (as gif/jpg)
Hello Rubyists,
I need to generate barcodes (in UPC and codabar symbologies) and
would like to know if anyone has done this with Ruby. From what I can
tell, it would be possible to use the gnu-barcode [1] or
barcodewriter [2] to generate a PostScript, then through RMagick (via
GhostScript) take the file and create a GIF/JPG.
These will really only be used for web display (to be printed
