R-beta: Readline and R 0.62.1
I have readline library where configure is not expecting it. How can I tell configure where that library is, and how can I compile R on Solaris with readline? Solutions were offered for R 0.61.3 but they do not seem to work for the new release: at least my trial and errors did not give desired effect. Wouldn't it be helpful if after autoconfig the user were informed whether compilation

readline installation [Re: R-beta: ....]]
I think, we should give more hints on installing / using readline with R. Maybe there could be one ASCII file README-readline-Installation added to the FTP sites *and* to R-0.61.3.tar.gz explaining some the things Peter Dalgaard just said on R-help. I agree with Jan that it's a pity for non-programmer-hackers if they won't be able to use readline (most probably, these are the ones

page count logging samba/cups
Hi, I know this subject appeared a few times on this list, but I've tried some of solutiuons presented there, and nothing works. I have a CUPS server and HP LaserJet 2200 printer. I downloaded postscript driver for this printer from cups.org, installed it in CUPS and then installed it using cupsaddsmb in Samba. This driver now installs automatically on my Windows clients. Problem is that

samba.
Hi. I run SuSE 8.1 and samba here. On the linux machine I have a HP1100A on the parallel port, and a HP-DJ895Cxi on a USB port. I can print ok from this linux machine to both printers. From my laptop, that runs WIN98, I can print to the HP1100A printer. I cannot print to the DJ895Cxi, even if its set up as a network printer. I could do this with SuSE dists up to 8.0. From 8.1 printers are

What am I missing here?!
OK, I've tried changing my printcap name from printcap to cups. Printing works fine locally using CUPS on the Samba box. What am I missing here? Why can't I print to the Samba box via the Windows and linux clients? Shared directories work fine. I am really frustrated here and have exhausted Google and all other resources I have. Here's my smb.conf for what it's worth.

cups, firefox + acrobat (Getting PJL output)
Hello, I am having a problem when printing pdf files as viewed from firefox/acroread to a samba print share. When I print from firefox, I get PJL output. If I print the very same file directly from Acrobat, the file prints properly. Standard web pages print from firfox just fine. #Sample output -12345X@PJL COMMENT MS PCLXL NT DRIVER @PJl JOB NAME ... Nb of copies don't appear in page_log file
Hi I am currently using Samba 3.0.11 and Cups 1.1.23 with Windows PostScript drivers and manufacturer PPDs on WinXP clients. When I print multiples copies of a document from a Windows XP box, the number of copies appearing in the Cups "page_log" file always takes the "1" value but the printer prints the correct number of copies. When I do the same on Linux (with the lpr

R-beta: compiling R-0.62.3 on SuSe Linux
On my RedHat 5.1 machine at the office I am happily using R installed from Martyn Plummer's RPM's of R-62.3 for RH 5.1 At home I have SuSe Linux 5.3 on my PC and as RH 5.1 is libc6 based and SuSe 5.3 is still libc5 based the RH 5.1 RPM's do not install and work on SuSe (even though they have a test version of glibc). So I downloaded R-0.62.3.tgz from www.ci.tuwien.ac.at/R and tried

R-beta: R0.62.3 installation on RedHat 5.0
I have R-0.62.3 and RedHat 5.0 with fort77. At the office R is running but when I install a package, eg. 'akima' I get a message make: f77: Command not found 'R INSTALL library' does not accept fort77, but R installation checks f77/g77/fort77. Is there an easy way to edit some file and replace f77/g77 with fort77? At home I have the same R and Linux versions, but when

Advice please ...
Hello R-ists Have been lurking on the list for a while, I have noticed recently two problems: 1 There seem to be problems with installing R on SuSe Linux version 5.3. As the list only gets problems and doesn't log the successes, has anyone successfully loaded R on SuSe 5.3? Is this a feature of 0.62.3 only or do the problems apply also to earlier versions. 2 There was a list of

Compiling on a Red Hat 5.1 system
I'm feeling kinda stupid right now, but I'm actually having problems compiling R-0.62.3 on a Red Hat 5.1 Linux system. I'd be happy if someone could point out for me where to look to fix the problem. I've included the output from the compiling below. Thanks for any help. Fredrik make -f Makefile.2nd all make[1]: Entering directory `/home/fredrigl/R-0.62.3' Building R cd

Printing problem
Hello, I'm new to WINE and cannot get a windows desktop publishing program to print. Wine's notebook prints, so I know WINE can reach my printer (Canon Pixma IP4200). What can I do to get my Quark program to use the same drivers? When I try to print now, nothing happens -- no messages, nothing. Thanks for any help. Frank

printer trouble - missing driver?
I can't get my HP DeskJet D2345 (USB) to work on my CentOS 5.3 machine. It'll work on another machine (with Fedora 7). I compared the installation details (in CUPS http://localhost:631) - seems that Cent does not have the driver. On the F7 machine, the device is "D2345 (HP D2300 series)" and the driver is "HP DeskJet D2300 Foomatic/hpijs". When I try to config my

Page_log with number of pages prtinted wrong
The Adobe drivers (on request of the printer PPD associated with them) often put a PJL header in front of the main PostScript part of the print file. Thus, the printfile starts with <1B >%-12345X or <escape>%-12345X instead of %!PS). This leads to the CUPS daemon auto-typing the incoming file as a print-ready file, not initiating a pass through the pstops filter (to speak more

R-beta: trouble compiling 0.62.3 on SunOS 4.1.4: lgamma conflicts
I've recently tried to get 0.62.3 up on our Suns (4.1.4, using gcc; I'm also having trouble with a Solaris 2.6 compile but I haven't given up hope on that one yet) -- the last compile I did was 0.61.1, which worked smoothly. Running ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/apps/R/R-0.62.3 [--with-g77] (tried both with and without g77, eventually get to the same place), I get a conflict

Printing with smbspool_krb5_wrapper not working in Ubuntu 16.04
Hello, I have two computers, one with Ubuntu 14.04 and one with Ubuntu 16.04. On both computers I have configured the printer with cups to print by using my Kerberos credential in the same way and it works in 14.04 but not on 16.04. For both /usr/bin/smbspool_krb5_wrapper is 700 and I have "AuthInfoRequired negotiate" for both in /etc/cups/printers.conf. I have made a symbolic link

R-beta: smooth in compiling
Dear all, Many thanks to those prompt and helpful replies, which immediately bring me to the final stage. A minor problem now: I got the following message for smooth function during compilation on both DEC-alpha and RedHat5.1. Although the compiling went through, it does not have the function of 'smooth' which is quite useful for me. Any ideas?
