Error when using buildVignettes()
Dear all, When running function 'testQAReport()', which uses function 'buildVignettes()' to create a pdf-file I get the following error: > source("testQAReport.R") > testQAReport() Error in .get_package_metadata(pkgdir) : Files 'DESCRIPTION' and 'DESCRIPTION.in' are missing. Since I did not get this error in earlier versions of R, could you

How to combine xtable and minipage with Sweave ?
Hello, I'm trying to put a dynamic table and a dynamic graph side by side in a pdf document using Sweave. The data.frame used to generate the table is called rg (rg.txt): "Date"; "Code"; "Data1"; "Data2" "2009-03-10";"1";1958;147 "2009-03-10";"2";302;144 "2009-03-10";"3";4;141

Sweave problem, with multicolumn tables from R to LaTeX
Hi there, I have been using the example provided bellow for a while, and It was working without any problem. Nevertheless, just since 2-3 days is not working, probably because I did update.packages(). I have tried to re-install the older versions of the packages Hmisc() and xtable(), but still does not work. Can you run this example, and tell me if you got the same problems? I use

Problems converting output from Sweave to PDf
I am having trouble converting the output from Sweave into a valid PDF file. I have created a simple .Rnw file which will become a full vignette at some point, but during the intermediate testing, I got errors from texi2dvi. This is what I have done. 0) Using a Windows Xp system 1) Created a file called GeneSpring.Rnw 2) Convert this to Tex using Sweave("GeneSpring.Rnw") from within R

Sweave - print \n ?
Hi, this is probably quite stupid but I have no clue what's wrong. Let's say I write the function hline <- function() { cat("\\hline \n") } and call hline() from within a Sweave chunk. Why is there no carriage return after the \hline in the resulting tex file? if I call hline() hline() in the chunk, then I get \hline \hline in the tex code without a linebreak in

Package documentation and rd.sty
Hi all, I've got a basic question regarding package documentation and rd.sty. I wrote my first own package, and now I would like to place the documentation into the appendix of another LaTex document. Seemingly I cannot simply \usepackage{Rd}, as this will modify the page-settings of my document. Is there a minimum style file which will just define the environments and commands needed for

tables: proper use of Hline() in tabular()
Dear all, I am unable to understand how Hline() works in tabular(). I've read the vignette and the help page, and here this example compiles perfectly fine: latex( tabular( Species + Hline() + 1 ~ Heading()*mean*All(iris), data=iris) ) However, if I try it on my own data it fails. Consider this: set.seed(1) Xa <- data.frame(p=rep(c("First group","Second

issues with Sweave and inclusion of graphics in a document
the problem is a little hard to explain; the .Rnw files (below) probably do a better job, but here goes ... Sweave doesn't like it when i size a graphical device in a code chunk using either, e.g.: windows(width=20, height=5) in Windows, or, e.g. x11(width=20, height=5) under X, when i then plot something in said device and try to include this graphical output in the resulting

xtable with \begin{tabular} and only.contents
I have found that I like having my captions and labels in my latex document rather than having them contained in my xtable output file (I haven't fully gone to sweave yet). I know I can do something like this by using the 'only.contents' argument in xtable. Unfortunately, the only.contents argument also removes the \begin{tabular}{rrrrrr} & \end{tabular} (in the example below) of

Sweave
Many of you are using Sweave for making statistical reports. I thought it might be helpful to some to see an example of the setup I use (in Linux). For those of you who have not yet discovered the power and productivity gains from using Fritz Leisch's wonderful package, I encourage you to give Sweave a try. %File: model.nw %Usage: % Put library(Hmisc;Design;tools} in .First % Sweave model

Hmisc latex() and Rcmdr numSummary() percentage issues
Dear R users, I have issues regarding latex() from Hmisc and numSummary() from Rcmdr. Here's an example: > library(Rcmdr) > data(Angell, package="car") > numSummary(Angell[,"hetero"], statistics=c("mean", "sd", "quantiles"), quantiles=c( 0,.25,.5,.75,1 )) > .numSummary <- popOutput() > latex(as.table(.numSummary$table),

Arrow heads at the end of axes
I would like to have arrow heads at the end of my axes, since I am plotting variable where the absolute amount is irrelevant, there is not supposed to be numbers on the axes. An imperfect example: plot(rnorm(10),bty='l',xaxt='n',yaxt='n',ylab='',xlab='',type='l') abline(h=0) Like this but without, the xaxis and with arrrowheads More like this in

getting "small" graphs with Sweave using Rnews.sty
I'm sorry for having to post this, but I can't seem to find any solutions to this, which seems pretty simple, but then again... I've started playing with the example r news project and wanted to start adding some graphs, but replacing: \begin{figure} \vspace*{.1in} \framebox[\textwidth]{\hfill \raisebox{-.45in}{\rule{0in}{1in}} A graph goes here \hfill}

Sweave and sideways
Hi there, I'm rying to 'turn' an Schunk in an .Rnw file(Xemacs-21.4.13, ESS-5.2.8, R-2.1, miktex-2.4.1705). Has anyone got the isorot package to work with Sweave? JC example test.Rnw: \documentclass[a4paper]{article} \usepackage{Sweave} \usepackage{isorot} \rotdriver{dvips} \clockwise \title{Sweave Example 1} \author{apologies to Friedrich Leisch } \begin{document} \maketitle

latex(Hmisc): cgroup + rownames shifts column names
I have submitted this as a bug (http://biostat.mc.vanderbilt.edu/trac/Hmisc/ticket/29) but I am wondering if anyone else has seen it or perhaps developed a workaround. I could certainly fix the LaTeX by hand, but I am using this inside Sweave, so it is a bit cumbersome. The exact same code used to work fine, but something changed underneath it. Even so, perhaps I am using the latex() command

Problem setting the number of digits in xtable
DEar list members, I am currently using Sweave with LaTeX which is great. I can use xtable for formatting outp of tables but I have a problem setting the number of decimals in xtables when used with dataframe. I have found an example on the net ith matrix and it works. For example this works : > > tmp <- matrix(rnorm(9), 3, 3) > > xtmp <- xtable(tmp) > > digits(xtmp)
