interp.surface() error (PR#7745)
R version: 2.001 OS: Windows XP SP2 When I use the interp.surface() function, on occasion I have encountered the following error message: Error in interp.surface(a, loc) : subscript out of bounds Since it is somewhat dependent on the data set, I cannot say exactly in which cases these occur, but I believe I have found the problem and a solution for it: The scaling calculations in the code,

hi friends, is there any wait function in R
hi, is there any wait function in R. I am running one R script to plot many graphs it is in the for loop. its showing no error but its not plotting well I think i can solve this problem with a wait function. Please help me in this regards. If u need any clarification about programme. u can find the script below. best regards, Deepak.M.R Biocomputing Group University of Bologana. #!/usr/bin/R

How to do linear regression with errors in x and y?
QUESTION: how should I do a linear regression in which there are errors in x as well as y? SUPPLEMENT: I've seen folks approach this problem by computing eigenvectors of the covariance matrix, and that makes sense to me. But I'm wondering if this has a "pedigree" (i.e. if it makes sense to folks on this list, and if it's something that has been published, so I can refer to

Error Bars in lattice- barcharts
Hello, I am attempting to write a script that adds error bars to a barchart. I basing my attempt heavily on the following thread: http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/e2/help/06/10/2791.html I can't seem to get around the problem that was discussed in the thread. The following example should illustrate my problem. Sorry about the messy example but I am 1) trying to make it as close as possible

R-beta: leaps() and subsets() functions
Dear R-users, Is anyone successfully using leaps() and particularly subsets() (contributed function) in R? When I attempt to run them with modest matrices, R promptly faults and dumps the core. Also, how does one use subsets.formula() within subsets()? R : Copyright 1997, Robert Gentleman and Ross Ihaka Version 0.50 Alpha-4 (September 10, 1997) R-base-0.50.a4-1.i386.rpm

[LLVMdev] Hello + Noobish question
Hi everyone! I recently subscribed your mailing list, as I find the LLVM project interesting. I've read the document known as "Compiler hacker's introduction to LLV"[1], and I've learnt about LLVM-IR. I was wondering about the impact of such a representation on mixing code from different languages. Suppose we have a huge library X written in language LX, which we would be

use xyplot to plot mean and CI by groups
Dear R users, I am trying to use xyplot to draw group mean and CI. The following is the sample code. But I want: 1. Use different colors and symbols to draw individual points, CI and the lines connect group means from different time points; 2. Add jitters to x axis to allow CIs not be overlapped Could anyone modify the attached code to achieve this? Thanks library(lattice)

R-beta: first view, then save plot or image?
I know how to first set postscript output, then execute plot or image command to create a postscript file of a plot or image. I was wondering if it is possible to first create the plot or image on screen so it can be viewed, THEN save it to file? Without doing plot() or image() again? (I ask because I have a complicated image computation that takes about 1-2 hrs to complete. I would like to

Request - adding recycled "lwd" parameter to polygon
Hello dear members of R-help and R-core mailing list, I am not sure if this request is a "ticket" that should be filled somewhere outside the mailing list. If so, I apologize for not doing and would like to know where I should have filled it. And to the subject matter: I would like to use a command like this: plot(c(1,8), 1:2, type="n") polygon(1:7, c(2,1,2,NA,2,1,2),

pmnorm: probabilites don't sum up to 1
Dear list member, I struggle with the problem, why the probabilities of choosing one of three mutually exclusive alternatives don?t sum up to 1! Let?s assume we have three alternatives X, Y, and Z. Let?s further assume we know their respective utilities: uX, uY, uZ. I?m interested in calculating the probability of choosing X, Y, and Z. Since I assume that the alternatives are mutually

`acting' on variables
Dear list, How can one "from within a function" act on these variables ("outside" a function) that were given as arguments. If I have e.g. this beginning of a function: foo <- function(tiro){ app.tiro <- 3 * tiro [...] } How can I from within the curly brackets e.g. concatenate the app.tiro to the particular variable I passed as the argument `tiro' ? What is

Dot plot - equivalent of MINITAB
hi folks, Bit of a newbie, but I've spent a fair bit of time looking for an answer on this, with no joy. Can anyone help me? Dataset: A single column of values in a csv file (eg. 52, 53, 54, 85, etc) Goal: In Minitab, you have what they call a dot plot. It's a histogram, where a single dot represents a set of identical values (eg. 57, 57, 57 would be one dot). Multiple dots are

Plotmath and line breaks in long annotations for plots
I'm trying to combine multi-line text and math annotations on a plot and am not having much luck. I looked at various suggestions in the archives, but I cannot coerce any of them to do what I want. I'm beginning (finally?!) to think that there is an entirely better approach than the one I have tried. The essential problem is that line breaks (\n) don't seem to behave the way I

using R interactively
1) Is it possible to erase data points, legends, and/or text from an R plot? 2) What's the best way to find the closest data point to what locator() returns? For more background and some context on these questions, read on... In using R interactively, I am displaying further details about a specific data point when the user clicks on the plot point. Here's a simple example: #

question about 3-d plot
Hi R Users, I have produced a simulated scatter plot of y versus x tightly clustered around the 45 degree line through the origin with the following code: x <- seq(1,100) y <- x+rnorm(100,0,10) plot(x,y,col="blue") abline(0,1) Is there some way to generate a 3-dimensional analogue of this? Can I get a similar simulated scatter plot of points in 3 dimensions where the points

strwidth and strheight for rotated text

I used strwidth and strheight to compute the size of the box which is plotted with rect: z <- rnorm(10) # horizontal text works plot(rnorm(10)) x1 <- 5 y1 <- 0 label <- "Label" cha <- paste(" ", label, " ", sep = "") xh <- strwidth(cha, cex = par("cex")) yh <-
