Using a constant scale across X-Y plots
I am working off an example from Deepayan Sarkar's Lattice:Multivariate Data Visualiization with R. I am trying to create Figure 5.6, essentially, but I would like to be able depict different metro areas. These of course have different lat/longs, so I need to make different graphs. BUT (and this has been the tricky part), I would like to produce graphics for each metropolitan

Controlling graphics parameters in lattice
I'm just starting to work with lattice graphics, and am having difficulty understanding how to control various graphic parameters (font sizes, etc.). [I'm actually using xyplot via plot.effect() in the car package, and would like to be able to set some global defaults.] I read ?xyplot and ?trellis.par.set-- which contains no complete list of parameters, just a reference to

lattice problems under Win2K and R-1.4.0
I'm having problems copying and saving lattice graphs using R-1.4.0 under Win2k. It seems I've see this alluded to recently in R-help. If I do the following example: > data(quakes) > xyplot(long ~ lat , data = quakes) And then try to copy or save the graph as either a metafile or bitmap or if I use any of the bitmap/metafile devices via (for example) >

panel.abline and xyplot
Dear All, I am wondering on how to use the abline.xyplot with xyplot such that I will have different vertical lines for each panel. More sepcifically, suppose that the xyplot generates 4 panels defined by the combination of two binary variables: X_1 and X_2. i.e. xyplot(Y ~ Z | X_1*X_2, data = df) I want something like: abline(v = 5) if X_1=0 and X_2 = 0 abline(v =

postscript printing on W95 client
Hi there, If the printer is connected to a W95 box the following information may help. 1) read the shell script '/usr/local/samba/smbprint', it provides info on how to setup the configuration files 2) install ghostscript, portable bitmap utils etc 3) install 'Magicfilter', it may need all of '2)' 4) modify the (last) lines in 'smbprint' to something like: (

problem with german fonts (gnu-emacs 21.2.1, ess-5.1.21, w95)
I have a little problem, I cannot solve (at least reasonable fast) I use gnu-emacs 21.2.1 with r-1.5.1 on windows 95. In recent versions I changed "process-coding-system-alist" (C-x[REt]p) to "latin-1". Then I was able to plot german "????" etc(rgui does make this correct). With the new R version this does not work any more. I tried to use some other codings systems

Can't see all files on W95 client
I am running Samba 1.9.18p8 on Linux(Debian 2.0beta) with kernel 2.0.34 that has smbfs and the win95 bug work around compiled into the kernel. When I mount a W95(osr2) share with smbmount I can move around the directory tree with out problems but not all the directories are showing up in the directory listings. I can cd into the missing directories if I know the names. Is there a way to fix

R-alpha: R-W95
Seems to be working very nicely (and what a relief to see it actually working!), I've found only a few problems till now: a) Characters outside 0-0x7f seem to get encoded as CP850 or something, not Latin 1 (æøå keys on DK keyboard gives mu,degree, sigma). b) Infinite recursion crashed R. (I forget details, but it was something stupid like f<-function(x){if (x < 1) 1 else f(x)*(x-1)})

Problems accessing a W95 share
Hi! I'm trying to use a printer connected to a Win95 box from Linux but when I try 'smbclient -L win95_machine' I get the following message: SMBnegprot failed. myname=TARKUS destname=WIN95 - ERRSRV - 1311 I'm using samba-1.9.18p5. The access in the other way (W95 to Linux shares) works without any problems. When I set the printer as shared in the W95 box it is possible to

W95 and Dial up Networking
I have looked and lurked among windows users, but no one seems to know the answer -- so I thought I'd ask the UNIX users :) What exactly is going on when a W95 machine "Logs into the network" if there are no PDC's, BDC, or NT domains at all? I have a pc that I'm trying to dial into the home office with (Samba server on sunOS, WINS support, the whole deal) it will log in

HP LJ6 prints blank page at end of W95 print job
I'm trying to use an HP LJ6 as a network printer on a Samba server (linux). Everything works fine except... whenever a W95 print job finishes, the printer throws a blank page. I've tried everything short of hex dumping the output - I've tried using a minimal printcap entry with no filtering, I've tried using apsfilter... The really odd thing is the binary data itself can't be

W95 and encrypted passwords?
Hi all, I'm trying to play with the "not-yet-officially-supported-PDC-code" in samba-2.0.3 and running into problems with the W95 client I'm using for testing. Since the Samba server is using 'encrypted passwords=yes' my W95 system can't log in, since it's passing plain-text passwords. How do I *enable* encrypted passwords under W95? Is there a quick

How to get Win 3.x, NT, W95 and W98 to all talk to Samba server
A couple of digests ago, someone posted fix to get W'59 and W'98 clients to be able to talk to a Samba server. We didn't modify the source and recompile, but instead simply returned the offending switch (nt support) to the default, and life was fine. Or so we thought. Now, Win 3.x machines cannot see the shares. So, we add (I believe only) "browseable=yes" and those

Blank page after each job from W95
Whenever I send a print job from a W95 client to a raw printer on my Linux box, I get a blank page automatically. When I print directly from Linux this does not occur. I have seen more subscribers mentioning this problem, but never did I see a solution for this. Can somebody help me out?
