Adding Gluster support for Primary Storage in CloudStack
Hi all, I'd like to inform any CloudStack users that there are now patches [0] available (for CoudStack) that make it possible to use an existing Gluster environment as Primary Storage on CloudStack. The changes extend CloudStack so that libvirt will be used for mounting the Gluster Volume over the fuse-client. Some further details and screenshots are available on my blog [1]. If there

Xen Cloud Platform 1.1 restart unexpectedly
Dear xen-users, I''m using Xen Cloud platform 1.1 with cloudstack. I have this situation, not sure if it''s a bug or intended behavior. I''ve setup 2 servers: A hosts NFS server, B is installed XCP 1.1. I''ve mounted NFS shared directory from A to B, to make a SR for virtual guest disk image. (which in cloudstack, is called primary storage). But when I stop the

Xen 4.0 on Debian 6, and Cloudstack, issues with internal and external networking.
Over in the XenProject.org Q&A system, there is a question about networking. I won''t attempt reproduce it here, since it includes a nice color diagram and pieces of configuration files (it''s really one of the most detailed technical questions I''ve seen in a while). The question can be found here:

Intro and request to edit
Hi, folks, I'm Rich Bowen, and I work with the OSAS (Open Source and Standards) group at Red Hat, as a community guy for OpenStack. In my other life, I've been on the documentation team for the Apache httpd project for a few years, so I like to think I can write coherently. ;-) I'd like to request edit privs on the CentOS wiki. In particular, I wanted to make edits to the page

SR_BACKEND_FAILURE_40
Hi all, I am getting this annoying "SR_BACKEND_FAILURE_40", have any of you seen some error like this before? I found a post here: http://discussions.citrix.com/topic/283705-internal-error-when-scanning-sr/ But, following those steps did not work out to me. I am using XCP 1.6 over, hen hypervisor 4.1.1 on Ubuntu 12.10. And as the management tool, I am using Cloudstack 4.1.1. The error

cloudstack_resources - invalid instance resource type
I''ve created cloudstack_resources as a module, have setup the transport.yaml and can successfully run "puppet resource cloudstack_instance" against my cloudstack environment. Network Bridge - error
Hi, I'm new to CentOS. (I have tried Debian, Ubuntu, Devuan & Gentoo). And also new to CloudStack. I'm trying the Quick Installation Guide of CloudStack as pointed by Andrija Panic of ShapeBlue https://github.com/apache/cloudstack-documentation/blob/master/source/quickinstallationguide/qig.rst At Configuring the Network topic, I got an error: [root at localhost ~]# systemctl

CentOS 7 regression, can not take a KVM qcow2, convert it and boot it on ESXi...
Guys, I have a Packer build procedure, that works like a charm, when with CentOS 6.7. Exemplifying: 1- Packer (with virtio disk) + QEmu + CentOS 6.7 ISO; 2- Create a RAW image; 3- Convert the RAW image into QCOW2 for KVM hypervisors (okay); 4- Convert the RAW image into VMDK for ESXi hypervisors (okay). However, when doing the very same procedure, with CentOS 7.2 ISO, it does not boot

Libvirt enhancement requests
Hi folks, I know you're rebuilding livbirt for the SIG. Would it be possible to enable RBD support in it? I know quite a few cases (in the Cloudstack community) that switched to Ubuntu particularly because CEPH support was missing. The recommendation is to rebuild the rpms, but this is not a viable thing for everyone. E.g.

Virt-v2v
Usual prologue: we're testing on CentOS 5.5, RHEL subscriptions purchased. Now trying to use virt-v2v to transfer Win2008 Server guest from ESXi host to KVM host. Have enabled SSH on ESXi host, and can connect using esx+ssh://esxhost, but procedure fails because nc isn't found on ESXi. Fair enough. BTW, ESXi looks like a radically cut down RH system (/etc/sysconfig being the give-away)?

Power Down ESXi before SAN
I have 2 APC UPS systems, one is connected to my ESXi host and the other to my FreeNAS. The battery for the FreeNAS will run out before the battery for the ESXi, so I need ESXi to shutdown first. If I wait until BatteryLow on ESXI, it will be too late as FreeNAS will have already shutdown. How can I change the configuration on ESXI to shutdown after a small delay so that it is done before

Any tips on dealing with a super hung XAPI process?
One of the cluster nodes (XS 5.6 SP2/not master) became unresponsive to XAPI calls being sent from a CloudStack management server. In the past, a simple xe-toolstack-restart would do the trick but the script timed out while restarting the XAPI daemon. I found the process and first tried to use a simple kill command but the process was in a "defunct" state. I tried a kill -9 but no joy.

Is it safe to go from CentOS6.5 to CentOS 7 at this time
I am looking for opinions and personal experience on CentOS7 for both grid and virtualized web environments. I am currently on CentOS6.5 in a production environment. I am about to add about 50 more servers to my grid and am trying to identify the advantages and disadvantages of going to CentOS7. The good part is, that I have some tolerance for backing out and installing CentOS6.5 if 7 does not

VM Performance using KVM Vs. VMware ESXi
Hi All We are currently testing our product using KVM as the hypervisor. We are not using KVM as a bare-metal hypervisor. We use it on top of a RHEL installation. So basically RHEL acts as our host and using KVM we deploy guests on this system. We have all along tested and shipped our application image for VMware ESXi installations , So this it the first time we are trying our application

NUT configuration with APC CS650 and ESXi host
Hello, I have decided to upgrade my home server by turning it into an ESXi host and have also added an APC CS650 UPS. My plan was to have NUT version 2.6.4 running in a Debian 7.7.0 virtual machine, NUT installed using apt. I configured NUT to run as a netserver, installed the ESXi nut .vib, configured the shutdowncmd in the VM to do nothing, so that the ESXi host would close that virtual machine
