compress raw image
Hi,
I need to transfer a local raw image to another datacenter.
Is there a way to achieve good compression of this image, I heard of
tools overwriting unused space with zeros. Is this a good idea?
It's an W2k8 image/NTFS.
Thx

disk i/o benchmarking inside vm
Hi,
I'm having trouble benchmarking disk i/o in my vm's. The data I get seems
bogus.
I have two centos 6 guests which use a raw image as volume. Each volume is
stored on its own physical disk and both disks are the same model. The host
system is fedora 15 with the virt-preview repo enabled. The disks for the
guests use virtio and caching is set to none.
My problem is that I get very

CentOS 5.2 and Xen 3.0.3 upgrade too 3.2.1
Hi,
I have recently upgraded from CentOS 5.1 too 5.2 and now run Xen 3.0.3. What would be the best way to upgrade too Xen 3.2.1 ? I presume I would also need to change my network settings for xenbr0 aswell ? Any help would be greatfully appreciated.

various patches from Mandrakelinux package
I was looking at the libvorbis 1.0 SRPM of Mandrakelinux, and it contained
some patches which are not included in vorbis 1.1 svn. I'm attaching these
patches here, because it could maybe be interesting to include these
upstream.
(libvorbis-1.1-aliasing.patch is actually a rediffed patch of Mandrakesoft's
one for 1.0 against 1.1 svn).
The author of these patches is Gwenole Beachesne,

This patch fixes size of ttbcr register (TCR_EL1 in case of AArch64)

Currently ttbcr is defined as 32b register but for AArch64 TCR_EL1
size is 64b.

[Rocks-Discuss] Virtualizing RockCluster 5.3
is there a way to virtualize rocks5.2 on rocks5.4? I have been trying to and
the gecko based install menu keeps failing. The error is a http 404 when
looking for the release notes to display. any Idea of what causes that? I
had that happen last time I tried to install rocks 5.2 on bare metal. The
only notable thing about my network is that its on a 255.255.254.0 subnet
mask. I can reserve its ip

Selections in lists
Hi,
I have produced a list g and I would like to reduce the amount of
information contained in each object in g.
For each matrix I would like to keep the values where the column name equals
g[year][[1]][[x]] and the row names equals g[year][[1]][[-x]]. So in
g$`1999`$`8029`, year = 1999 and x = 8029. I have been experimenting with
the subset function, but have been unsuccesful. Thanks for your

Multiply list objects
Hi,
I am trying to use the objects from the list below to create more objects.
For each year in h I am trying to create as many objects as there are B's
keeping only the values of B. Example for 1999:
$`1999`$`8025`
B
B 8025 8026 8027 8028 8029
8025 1 1 1 0 0
8026 1 0 0 0 0
8027 1 0 0 0 0

Selecting section of matrix
Hi,
I have a question concerning the selection of data. Let's say that given
list h created below, I would like to select a section of the 1999 matrix.
For a case (rownames and colnames) I would like to select the cells that
have a value > 0. So for case 8025
8025 8026 8027
8025 1 1 1
8026 1 1 1
8027 1 1 1
And for case 8028
8028 8029
8028 1
