Time jumped forwards
Running Dovecot 2.0.8 on 32bit Centos5.5. The machine is a VMWare ESX VM.
I'm seeing a lot of warning messages in syslog as follows:

Xen, Amazon, and /proc/cmdline
Amazon (or perhaps Amazon's configuration of Xen) forces a machine to
come up at run level 4, regardless of what's in /etc/inittab.
I've looked through /etc/rc.sysinit and /etc/rc.d/rc, to determine which
(if any script) looks at /proc/cmdline and forces a particular run
level, but to no avail.
It seems that /sbin/init does the forcing. Can anyone confirm that
/sbin/init reads

Slightly OT - Grub fallback option
Does anyone have a standard install of CentOS virtualization grub.conf
working in a proven state with the FALLBACK option? If so, can you post
your grub.conf?
I mistakenly updated to 5.5 and am concerned about nvidia driver
comments in the release notes. I did not have protectbase configured on
this machine. It is a remote device that will reboot.

Unable to convert hvm to pv guest
to convert hvm to pv guest, I have followed the direction(
link<http://pastebin.com/f6a5022bf>) in Xen-Users Common Questions
Guide.
It says the first step is "install kernel-xen with correct initrd"
After "yum install kernel-xen" was executed, following errors were showed:

Xen and TLS, -mno-tls-direct-seg-refs needed?
Hi,
The Gentoo-Wiki about Xen suggests, to add "-mno-tls-direct-seg-refs" to
CFLAGS and to recompile the whole system. So it seems, NPTL will work
without problems (and without performance drawback) after that.
Sweet!
But i carefully read http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/XenSpecificGlibc,
and it says:
"On 32-bit x86 platforms, Xen uses segmentation to provide protection of

Hello,
I created a paravirtualized Debian Squeeze guest (using virt-manager), after completing the initial setup I was asked to reboot, in order to finalise the installation. The guest startup breaks down with the error message:

SLES10SP2 (xen 3.2.x) vs SLES11 (xen 3.4.x)
I built a couple new servers on SLES11 because I needed to use USB.
Since SLES11 has xen 3.4 packages that seemed like the way to go. I''m
questioning the stability of the two new servers compared to my
SLES10SP2 servers. I''m also questioning the performance of Windows
domUs.
On Thanksgiving day one of my SLES11 servers running 7-8 domUs crashed
and restarted three times. Being

Domain0 with Kernel 2.6.18-92.1.22.el5xen fails to boot Guests with Kernel 2.6.18-164.el5xen
Hi all,
I am in a bit of a fix here, I have several Guests paravirtualized
running on a Dom0 that is currently running the 2.6.18-92.1.22.el5xen
Kernel. All my guests (administered by different people) have
subsequently been updated to later versions of the kernel (namely
2.6.18-164.el5xen or 2.6.18-128.4.1.el5xen).
Ones that are still running are using the Kernel 2.6.18-128.4.1.el5xen

yum kernel update problem
On the subject of kernel updates:
I had my install kernel (2.6.18-8.el5xen) and 2.6.18-8.1.8.el5xen on the box.
I was unable to originally boot the update (8.1.8xen) because of the 3ware
driver issues (I needed to use a driver floppy at install time).
I jumped through some hoops (which I am struggling to understand) with
weak-updates to get the 2.6.18-8.1.8 kernel to see my raid devices, which

The vSphere performance graph shows high CPU consume and disk activity only

The details of last issues was reported to retrace.fedoraproject.org.

dear All,
I had a Centos 5.5 OS running for about 6 months used as a Xen VM server
prfectly running 3 Virtual machines
Its a Sun Blade server with 8 core Xeon Proceesor with 32 GB Ram
couple of days back I added another 32 gb ram .
The bios shows the added ram that is now it shows me 64 GB but the Centos
OS just recognizes 32gb only
the OS details are:
