Assuming I have a firewire card with a supported chipset, is there anything special I need to do in order for the kernel to recognize the card? Shouldn't kudzu "wake up" and configure the card when I boot up after installing it? This is a brand spanking new 4.4 system and a supported Agere chipset firewire card. To those of you who may be interested, to get SATA drives to work on this motherboard with Xen 3.3.1 (compiled from source) you need to set SATA to RAID mode in the BIOS, not the default IDE mode. So I can only assume that the 2.6.18.8 kernel has a problem with the VIA SATA in IDE mode, and can''t recognise it, even though the host OS (Ubuntu 8.04LTS, in my case) has no problems with it.
