Trying to install R on Lucid Lynx
Hi:
I installed Lucid Lynx amd64 on my system today, dual booted with Win 7.
I've managed to install several packages through the Ubuntu Software
Center with success and also installed texlive. Alas, installing my favorite
software has not been so joyful. I went through the last few months
of posts in this group to find something similar, but to no avail.
After a couple of false starts, I

r-base installation fails on Ubuntu 14.04
I just essentially the same question on this mailing list and the problem
ended up being that my cpu's architecture was not supported by the ubuntu
releases (or any releases for that matter). I had to build R from source,
but it wasn't much headache.
The Ubuntu releases only support i386 and amd64 --- i.e. 32 bit & 64 bit
intel and amd cpus and not, e.g., the arm cpus that are

Problem Updating from 2.71 to 2.8 in Ubuntu
Hello,
I have recently installed Ubuntu (8.10) Intrepid Ibex and I am trying to get
R version 2.8. I have changed my /etc/apt/sources.list file to include a
mirror. I have also added the Vincent Goulet key. However, whenever I run
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install r-base
it installs version 2.71. Given that I am new to Ubuntu, is there
anything that I need to do to make ubuntu get

If I understand this correctly, there are multiple copies of some of
the man page names in the automake variables:

cran ubuntu repository and ubuntu 12.10
Since upgrading to quantal, I find that synaptic and apt-get cannot read
the sources.list file if it includes the previously standard line
deb http://lib.stat.cmu.edu/R/CRAN/bin/linux/ubuntu/ quantal
This line makes apt-get or synaptic give an error message identifying
this line as having a syntax error.
If "multiverse" is added at the end of the line, the line is parsed, but

puppet repository from puppetlabs
Hi All,
Is there a ubuntu repository managed by puppetlabs? I am using lucid
and latest puppet package it offers is 0.25.4.
I could of course just download source, or a deb from debian or newer
ubuntu, or get it using gem.
But would be nice if there is a PPA available for lucid, cuz it would
work nicely with routine upgrade.
puppetdashboard worked nicely with the puppet labs ppa deb

1.0.1 download - aa strange problem
Having trouble with 1.2, tried to return to 1.0.1 (last stable acc. to the Wine page!) However, there`s... no link to it anywhere! Even in .deb repository there are any versions you could fancy- later and veen earlier - minus the stable. A rather strange idea...
Where can I find 1.0.1 packages?!

revolution-mkl package not functioning correctly with R 2.13
It appears that the revoluton-mkl package, available via the multiverse
Ubuntu repository with the purpose of adding multi-threaded numeric
libraries to R, is not function correctly with R 2.13 (at least the
version found on CRAN). Testing with "R-benchmark-25.R" (found at

installing the revolution-mkl package

A guide to R packages for Ubuntu
Hi everyone,
I am using the backports from
http://cran.r-project.org/bin/linux/ubuntu/lucid/ on Lucid and would
like to create a bunch of additional r-cran packages on my workstation.
Where can I find the latest scripts to automatically create those
packages? Is https://r-forge.r-project.org/projects/cran2deb/ still
up-to-date?
Best

r-base installation fails on Ubuntu 14.04
I am unable to install R on an up to date (i.e. apt upgraded) Ubuntu
14.04 system. According to
https://cran.r-project.org/bin/linux/ubuntu/README (and many other sources),
R is available for this version of Ubuntu (which is a stable version).
I currently have
deb https://cran.cnr.berkeley.edu/bin/linux/ubuntu trusty/
in sources.list. I've tried this with and without
