Tcltk package
Hi WizaRds, I ran into trouble trying to install the "debug" package, which requires TCL/TK support. It seems like the tcltk package is not installed on my system. From: http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/help/05/07/7993.html it seems that the tcltk is bundled with the base R distribution. I'm running R under linux: > version _ platform i686-pc-linux-gnu

Re: Bug#213857: r-base-core: xfig plot fails with invalid line type (PR#4401)
Graham, Confirmed. I will pass that along to the R team. As 1.8.0 is in code freeze, this may not get addressed, unfortunately. Including C Code for Tcl and Tk in an R package
Dear R Community, I adapted the C-Code found at (http://wiki.tcl.tk/25685) implementing fast image resizing for Tk images for my R package. The C Code differs for tcl/tk version 8.4 and 8.5. I have the working code for both versions. How do I integrate this C-Code into my package so that R CMD INSTALL takes care of compiling the function correct for each OS and tcl version? (such that I can

extracting character values

I would like to extract only the last name from each cell; this new dataframe is calle 'res' Here is what I do: res <- data.frame(matrix(NA, nrow=dim(netw)[1], ncol=dim(netw)[2])) for (i in 1:x) { wh <- regexpr('[a-z]{3,}',

(PR#9691) 'Bug'#424696: R CMD INSTALL -l <path> does not
I looked for evidence that this is supposed to happen, as it was news to me that it did on some versions of R. Possible sources of documentation seem to be R CMD INSTALL --help ?INSTALL R-intro.texi, R-exts.texi, R-admin.texi none of which mention this AFAICS, and all seem to be written assuming an existing library tree. DId you find something to suggest otherwise? Clearly no alpha/beta

How to extract se(coef) from cph?
Hello, I am modeling some survival data wih cph (Design). I have modeled a predictor which showed non linear effect with restricted cubic splines. I would like to retrieve the se(coef) for other, linear, predictors. This is just to make nice LateX tables automatically. I have the coefficients with coef(). How do I do that? Thanks, David Biau. Re : interpretation of coefficients in survreg AND obtaining the hazard function for an individual given a set of predictors
Thanks for sharing the questions and responses! Is it possible to appreciate how much the coefficients matter in one or the other model? Say, using Biau's example, using coxph, as.factor(grade2 == "high")TRUE gives hazard ratio 1.27 (rounded). As clinician I can grasp this HR as 27% relative increase. I can relate with other published results. With survreg the Weibull model gives a

interpretation of coefficients in survreg AND obtaining the hazard function for an individual given a set of predictors
Dear R help list, I am modeling some survival data with coxph and survreg (dist='weibull') using package survival. I have 2 problems: 1) I do not understand how to interpret the regression coefficients in the survreg output and it is not clear, for me, from ?survreg.objects how to. Here is an example of the codes that points out my problem: - data is stc1 - the factor is dichotomous
