etch AMD64 debs missing
Thanks Piet & Johannes for the backports.
There seems to be a problem with the files for the amd64 architecture getting
out.
Here is my apt-get update

Does rattle depend on testing's ggobi?
Hello All,
I'm trying to install rattle from source on a AMD64 machine running etch. I
have two packages installed from the etch backport
(r-cran-rodbc and r-cran-rsprng) but all the rest installed from source. I'm
trying to install rattle, but
install.packages("rattle", dependencies=TRUE)
Tries to install rggobi, which complains about the version of libggobi. Does

R 2.5.0 packages for Debian stable/etch
Dear list,
R 2.5.0 packages for Debian stable (i386 and amd64) are now available
from CRAN.
The new recommended codetools and rcompgen packages haven't completely
made it to Debian yet, but can of course be installed in the standard
non-Debian ways.
Please consult the README file in the Debian directory, and report
problems to me directly or to this list.
Best regards,
Johannes Ranke

Change in the Debian backports archive on CRAN
Dear users of the Debian backports on CRAN,
Because of an inconsistency of the README file with the actual situation
on CRAN, which Ted Harding gratefully reported, I changed the archive on
CRAN so the /etc/apt/sources.list entry has to be changed in case you
would like to get updates of R backports to Debian stable in the future:

Rdevices.h is not Included in Recent Packages
Hi,
I am trying to install RSRuby (http://rubyforge.org/projects/rsruby/) which
somewhat analogous to RPy.
Installation fails using the cran R 2.8.0 packages for Ubuntu Intrepid
because RDevices.h does not appear to be included in the r-cran-core package
as it was previously. It is in the rbase_2.8.0.orig.tar.gz in the same
directory meaning it hasn't been taken out of R altogether, and I

R CMD javareconf in r-base-dev 2.6.0
Hi Dirk, hi list,
I just ran into a slight problem while building the recommended packages
for CRAN in a chroot environment against the fresh backport of your R
2.6.0 packages. It seems that R CMD javareconf wants to change files in
/etc/R during the build, and since I am not building the packages as
root in my etch chroot, this fails, even if I am using fakeroot. My
workaround was to simply

(PR#8877) predict.lm does not have a weights argument for newdata
Dear R developers,
I am a little disappointed that my bug report only made it to the
wishlist, with the argument:
Well, it does not say it has.
Only relevant to prediction intervals.
predict.lm does calculate prediction intervals for linear models from
weighted regression, so they should be correct, right?
As far as I can see they are bound to be wrong in almost all cases, if
no weights

thanks a lot for your replies! With help of a friend the problem could be

Package installation when $RHOME is not writable (win)
I'm using R in a student lab with machines running win XP. $RHOME is not
writable by the students. How do I set this up so that they can install
packages?
Thanks,

Debian Testing: ~/.Renviron seems to not being read (R_LIBS not set)
Hi,
I have Debian Testing running on a Lenovo Thinkpad X1
Carbon (2015, 3rd gen.). I would like to have a package library
independent of the installed R version. Under Ubuntu, I used to
have the following line in ~/.Renviron:
R_LIBS=/usr/local/R/library:/usr/lib/R/site-library This worked
fine and /usr/local/R/library showed up in .libPaths().
However, under Debian (with the same ~/.Renviron),

Transactional/Rollback problems
I''m having a rollback problem with rspec trunk. It doesn''t seem like
rollbacks are happening quite as often as they should be. It
appears as though the rollbacks are *NOT* occurring on the first
description block in a file, but are for the rest. Here is a set of
specs that are failing:
require File.dirname(__FILE__) + "/../spec_helper"

reloading fine.
How would I debug a problem such as autotest not reloading?

Re : Install latest R version from apt on Lenny
OK, thanks both. I'll try that. I suspect (very strongly) that it comes from the fact that I did not replace the cran mirror line by an actulal cran mirror URLs... I will give a look at all my backports this weekend and do a little cleaning too!
thanks,
David Biau.

(PR#8877) predict.lm does not have a weights argument for
I am more than 'a little disappointed' that you expect a detailed
explanation of the problems with your 'bug' report, especially as you did
not provide any explanation yourself as to your reasoning (nor did you
provide any credentials nor references).
Note that
1) Your report did not make clear that this was only relevant to
prediction intervals, which are not commonly used.

Cross compile R for ARM target
Hi Johannes,
Thank you for your quick feddback.
As I am using linux os build with buildroot on my raspberry pi I can't use package manager such as apt-get to install R.
What I need to do is to get the precompiled R for arm arch and then when I build my linux image using buildroot I include the R precompiled package to my rootfs.
Could you please send me a link where I can download
