I have run into a few problems in getting applications to work with Kubuntu. I'm running Kubuntu 9.04 and Wine 1.1.23. If installing an application, I get errors during the process and the installation is aborted. If just running certain executables, the Wine Loader shows up in the task bar but the disappears after a few seconds without the application running. I was able to install Call

Kubuntu 10.10 hangs up, while using DVDFab with wine 1.2/1.3
Hello, first of all, let me say sorry, for my ugly english ! In the past, I used DVDFab 7/8 with wine 1.2 on Kubuntu 10.04. Everything worked fine, without any special configuration. I used the Blu-Ray to Blu-Ray Function. Now, i did a new installation of Kubuntu 10.10, and DVDFab looks like this: DVDFAB 7.0.9.3 [Image: http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/1065/dvdfab7093.png ] DVDFab 8.0.7.3

readline with R-1.4.0
Hi, I am not sure if this is a bug, so I am posting it here. I also searched the FAQ file for the readline string and did not find anything about the behavior below. I just successfully rsync'ed, compiled and tested R-1.4.0 on my RH 7.2 Linux machine. I encountered one problem though. When running ./configure I noticed that I was getting errors from the readline library. Although

rl_callback_read_char error on Solaris 7
This question is about compiling R-1.6.2 from source on a Sparcstation-20 machine running Solaris 7, gcc-2.95.3 and readline-4.2 (both gcc and readline from sunfreeware.com). I searched the r-help archive and the FAQ. The errors seem to be related to the binary readline libraries, and I have /usr/local/lib/libreadline.a,libreadline.so@, and libreadline.so.4. The attached errors are from

syslinux on kubuntu easy way?
Is there an easy way to use syslinux and use the normal kernel upgrades without having to edit files each time? Also the normal kubuntu kernel packages seem to come with symbolic links not supported by fat filesystem. Does anyone know an easy way around that? maybe using an overlay filesystem? I couldn't find what I was looking for on google. I would like to use syslinux over extlinux because

JGR, Java and Kubuntu 7.04 ...
R-ists Yet again Java rears its ugly head. I have Kubuntu 7.04 running the Kubuntu-repository version of R 2.4.1-1. Yes it isn't the very latest version but this is not the issue here. I want a Windows-like environment and everyone is talking about JGR. I downloaded it and installed it along with rJava. Both compile and install satisfactorily. But when I come to run it: >

broken apt in kubuntu 8.04?
Hiya, I'm running wine 0.9.61 on kubuntu 8.04. I've added the wine binary repositories to my package manager. before i could always update without problem. Now when i look for new packages it shows rc1, but as an uninstalled package, thus the package manager no longer shows the installed 0.9.61. Don't know if this is a problem with the wine repository or kubuntu. Thought
