How to disable dnsmasq from starting automatically with libvirtd
Hi.
I have a machine with a local DHCP server and a couple of virtual networks and
I've configured the server for each virtual interface, so that I would be able
to install VMs on the corresponding subnets using PXE.
The problem is that the two DHCP servers (my local server and dnsmasq) are
conflicting with each other causing the boot process to either fails or takes
ages untill a VM can

Xen and DHCP problem
Hey folks!
I want to add a CentOS 5.2 domU to an existing server (Fedora 8) which was setup by another company. The Dom0 does not provide any other services but a BIND-DHCP-server (they deleted dnsmasq and installed bind). Don''t ask my why they did that.
My new DomU is connected to eth0, which is a bridge. BIND also listens on eth0 to serve other machines.
I start the install of centos

CentOS 4.6 - dhcp issue
Hi - On my CentOS 4 cobbler server i am having some odd dhcp issues.
There is only 1 dhcp server on the network and the cobbler box manages
the dhcp. When i kick off the PXE install during the PXE phase things
seem OK then when anaconda tried to get an IP sometimes things work out
fine and other times it sits waiting for hostname/domainname. From the
logs you can see that the mac requesting

Client can't boot
Hi,
I'm trying to configure PXE syslinux to boot a diskless client but the
client can't find the PXE boot image. I've configured the DHCP server
as follows:

option domain-name "cluster.net";
option domain-name-servers 10.0.0.1;
default-lease-time 6048;
max-lease-time 604800;
log-facility local7;

PXE problem after CentOS reboot
Dear folks,
We are installing a large diskless cluster using CentOS 5.1. The
hardware is pretty new - Supermicro X7DWT boards with Harpertown CPUs.
Unfortunately we have some PXE-related problems described by the
following scenario:
1) Set up DHCP, TFTP and NFS on a server, prepare PXE kernel and initrd
- fine.
2) Start up the node using PXE for the first time - fine.
3) Reboot the node - PXE

Bug#346350: logcheck-database: dhcp3-server ignores need to include (none ) client host name
Package: logcheck-database
Version: 1.2.39
Severity: normal
I use dhcp3-server and a dhcp client which is Sony HDD video recorder
CoCoon. The client not return client host name.
In this case, dhcpd server assumed the client host name is (none).
Therefor dhcpd output log described below.

what does "not found" mean in a DHCPRELEASE context?
I have a CentOS 4.6 server running dhcpd. One of my client devices (a
Panasonic KX-HCM280A camera) is trying to get a lease from that
server. I can see the device accept a lease (it is a reservation),
however it always releases the reservation after about 25 seconds:

kickstart: dracut-initqueue fails due to unresolvable hostname even though network config looks perfectly ok
This problem still bites us. I've tried to play around with DHCP
settings (rd.net.timeout.dhcp, rd.net.dhcp.retry) to no avail.
I'm happy about /any/ hint.
Cheers

kickstart: dracut-initqueue fails due to unresolvable hostname even though network config looks perfectly ok
Hi,
kickstarting fails due to problems with host resolution, even though the
network seems to be properly configured through DHCP. eno1 and eno2 are
both attached to the network, but only eno1 gets an IP via DHCP. Still
`curl` cannot resolve the mirror host and the kickstart host during

DHCP problem with virtual interfaces
Hello,
After asking around in #centos and other linux related IRC channels, here I am, bugging all of you.
brace for the long post. (tldr: dhclient loses virtual interface ips)
I set up a system to deploy statically assigned IPs to physical and virtual interfaces to a number of (virtual) machines.
I have a DHCPD with an entry for each virtual ip in the form of
host eth0-1.virt1.test.it {

syslinux.efi problem TFTPing ldlinux.e64 on hyper-v gen2 netboot
I've found a problem, and I think it is in syslinux (specifically when it tries to load ldlinux.e64 under hyper-V).
I have a physical computer with a Gigabyte GA-P85-D3 motherboard that successfully pxeboots using the EFI images, and I hold that up as exhibit 1 that my deployment environment works. It also implies that the syslinux.efi image works in some cases, but not in all.

macaddress blacklist problem

shorewall 1.4.6b on a redhat 9 box. Works well.

one box that apparently still has the old firewall config (zone alarm)

broken network-support for netBSD-domUs?
Hello.
I recently tried installing NetBSD-5 on xen-4.0.1-rc5, which resulted in no network (xennet0 can''t get IPs per dhclient and has no connectivity if set by hand).
Tried it with netBSD-5.1-RC3-1 i386 PAE & amd64, netBSD-5.0 and even 4, all with the same result.
On a older xen version (3.3.1) networking works fine, so I assume it''s a xen bug, and not a netBSD-kernel

Bug#286532: dnsmasq: misses message for DHCPINFORM due to 283331 fix
Package: logcheck-database
Version: 1.2.32
Severity: normal
Tags: patch
The fix for 283331 exposed a bug in the dnsmasq rules. The rule was
looking for DHCPINFO, but the actual message is DHCPINFORM. Prior to
the 283331 fix, the old rule worked, because the "[()[:alnum:]]+" part
of the rule matched the "RM" at the end of DHCPINFORM.
