Solaris 10 domU under OpenSolaris dom0
Sorry if this was answered before. It''s hard to figure out what keywords to use in order to narrow the search. I''m looking into running Solaris 10 as a guest under an OpenSolaris dom0 host. Is this feasible, and if so, can someone point me to the best "howto" to reduce the frustration level? Otherwise, is there a better host OS to do this under? Thanks, Gary

Solaris / OpenSolaris
I'm having some difficulties pxe booting Solaris. So far I have tried the mboot.c32, and the pxegrub shipped with Solaris. At first I had some problems with blksize, but this disapeared when I changed from atftpd to tftpd-hpa. The point at which I'm stuck now is, the kernel and x86.microroot/x86.miniroot is loaded but then VMWare crashes. I might try with real hardware, but I thought

Opensolaris domU HostID Changes on Every Boot
I''m running an Opensolaris domU on Xen with a Linux dom0. Xen is version 3.3.1, I''m running the Genunix.org build 130 of Opensolaris. I have the uuid defined in my domU configuration file, but this doesn''t seem to affect the fact that the hostid is different every single time the domU boots. For some reason this doesn''t affect the root ZFS pool, which imports

Install RedHat/CentOS domU on OpenSolaris with ISO image
Dear all, The below is my steps to setup RedHat/CentOS domU on OpenSolaris with ISO image.Although there are some guides to describe how to install Linux on domU,but their install media are from http or OpenSuSe image. I find there is some different from RedHat ISO image. 1) $pfexec svcadm enable svc:/network/nfs/client:default # I find the nfs client is disabled by default, this issue spent

OpenSolaris b44 and Xen 3.0.4
I have installed OpenSolaris build 44 and wish to install the latest version of Xen, 3.0.4. Past attempts at getting all the software versions in the Howto installed correctly have failed, so I would like to try Xen 3.0.4 instead. Can anyone give me some pointers on how to go about doing this? Or does anyone possibly have a binary of the latest Xen that I could use with OS b44? Thanks, Scott

Documentation at opensolaris.org for linux dom0
Thanks to everyone who works on the opensolaris project. I think it would be helpful to update the documentation on this page: http://opensolaris.org/os/community/xen/docs/linux-dom0/ The crucial steps of mounting the boot environment, updating the boot_archive, copying the boot_archive back to dom0, finding the ZFS-ID of the boot environment, and finally adding that ZFS-ID to the kernel

Prebuilt OpenSolaris / Nexenta DomU with ZFS root?
Does anyone know of a prebuilt Solaris or Nexenta DomU with a ZFS root that uses paravirtualization? I''ve been mulling over the directions for both, but my Xen DomU is Fedora for the moment. (I hope to use OpenSolaris as my Dom0 at some point, but due to lack of hardware and time, I need to build the VMs first before I format my home-server.) Thanks, -Luke

[Fwd: [Fwd: Shared Storage in xVM Opensolaris build 122]]
Hi, the diskmon issue in RAC 11.2 was a firewall issue. The clusterware is running OK now and also the new ACFS (ASM Cluster filesystem) seems to work properly using a shared ZFS volume. Cheers, Marc

[Fwd: Shared Storage in xVM Opensolaris build 122]
Hi, I double checked the configuration with xm and the "w!" option seems to be configured :-( I also upgraded to build 123, but also no change in behaviour. Thus is this a RAC 11.2 problem or is there a general problem using zvols as as shared disks for xVM domains ? (device (vbd (protocol x86_64-abi) (uuid 048d282d-da4c-2e0b-b9f4-f3f4cc0811c7)

p2v for sxce snv115 to xvm on opensolaris host?
hi folks, is there a straightforward or well-documented way to migrate my physical sxce snv_115 (x64) system into an xvm ? searching for "p2v" in an opensolaris context seems to pick up a few hits on zones, but nothing obvious relating to xvm on opensolaris for what it''s worth the host system is opensolaris (2010.02 snv_126), but i''m hoping that''s not very
