I think it would be helpful to update the documentation on this page:

The crucial steps of mounting the boot environment, updating the
boot_archive, copying the boot_archive back to dom0, finding the ZFS-ID
of the boot environment, and finally adding that ZFS-ID to the kernel
parameters in the xen config file are not mentioned.
