Passing values to a Partial
Hi,
I cannot seem to find out how to pass in a value to a partial. Can
anyone help me?
What I am doing(in the code below) is calling a function in my
controller called setobject. This function just redraws the partial. I
want to be able to change the value @objectname, redraw my partial and
have it be able to use that value. The first the page is drawn it works,
but when i call setobject it

I have a little problem with ruby on rails and ajax.
I have 2 sort of droppable items, 2 drop_receiving_element areas working

[protoype] Problem with Effects on draggable element if revert is true
hi,
I have a draggable element (cart-item) in a shopping cart
<%= draggable_element "item_#{product}_#{i}", :revert => true %>
When this element is dragged outside the cart into the "main_div", I want to
show a puff effect and remove the element. When it is dragged within the
cart, it should revert.
So i wrote this code for drop_receiving _element

Drag/Drop finding droppable's properties?
Hi All,
I am trying to develop a dynamic form creator application, whereby we
can drag objects from a "palette" and drop them onto a "form" to build
the design of our form.
To achieve this, when I have dragged the object, and dropped it onto
the "form" area, I want to get the position of where the object was
dropped.
I have a droppable area:

AJAX Drag and Drop Detecting Drop Coordinates
This one''s kicking me in the *(&#^. All I want to do is create a draggable
item and then detect the coordinates where it is dropped. So my first
approach was to just use the draggable_element with :revert => false, like
so:
<%= draggable_element "my_element", :revert => false %>
That works great and lets me drag stuff all over the place. In the

Scriptaculous, snap draggable to droppable or revert
Hello community,
I am a fairly new RoR programmer and I need some help with Scriptaculous
Drag and Drop:
So I have
<%= draggable_element(@div_id, :revert => "failure", :snap => 5) -%>
and a droppable:
<%= drop_receiving_element(@team_div_id, :with => "''player='' +
(element.id)+ ''&position='' + #{draft_position}"

:revert => false for Droppables
Right now I am using page.remove and page.insert for some complex nested
moves in RJS. I have my draggables set to revert, but they also revert when
they hit a droppable.
Meaning, the draggable will start reverting for part of a second before the
page.remove kicks in. Is there a way to specify :revert => false for the
drop_receiving_element, or something else to that affect?

page to see that the item has been moved.

undefined method `protect_against_forgery?' for #<ActionView
Hi guys
This is a pretty tricky one.
I get a "undefined method `protect_against_forgery?'' for
#<ActionView::Base:0x569a3d4>" error when trying to generate a partial
from ''outside'' the web site. I do this as I have a rake task that checks
for changes periodically in the background, and if it then sees a change
it rebuilds the partial and posts the result

Droppable refuse to react
Im having problems with Droppables, and read that there are some
attributes on the element that must be inline. What are those?
I''ve tried to copy some of the code from the shop-demo, and my code
seems to have the exact same attributes and more.
The problem is that the droppable refuse to react whenever I attempt to
drop a draggable on it, the onDrop does''nt seem to trigger.

turning revert off after being dropped
I have a container ''A'' which contains Draggables and a Droppable ''Trash''. These

in the Trash, I don''t want it to revert, I want it to just disappear.
I''ve tried using draggable.destroy() but this just prevents it from being

Using an image button for "link_to_remote"
All,
I want to do an AJAX request using a custom image button. I currently
have this as a standard button action using "button_to".
What I need is the button equivalent of "link_to_remote". Is there a
helper that I can use, or do I need to build it by hand?
I see button_to_function(), but that sets me up to call a Javascript
function, not post to a Rails action.
Or can

.NET developer trying to understand some Rails basics
Hi All,
I''ve been a ASP.NET developer for the last few years and consider it to
be a pretty productive environment to work with. However, the
object-relational mapping (ActiveRecord) and simplicity of the Rails
framework and Ruby in general really appeals to me. .NET currently
doesn''t have something like Rails'' ORM - atleast not out-of-the-box.
