RadRails Broke with 1.8.4 / 1.1
I''ve been using the radrails eclipse plugin with ruby 1.0 & Rails 1.8.2
up until this morning... I just installed Ruby 1.8.4 (one-click
installer rc1) and Rails 1.1. Now the rails eclipse plugin does not
seem to be aware of how to run ruby and has lost the ability to start
the webrick server. I''m sure it''s a simple configuration issue but the

Problem with ruby 1.8.4 One-Click Ruby Installer on windows
Hi!
Previously i had ruby 1.8.2 (One-Click Ruby Installer) installed, but
the rdoc and plugindoc didn''t work, so i decided to install ruby 1.8.4.
I had uninstalled ruby 1.8.2 (uninstaller deleted the whole ruby folder
with radrails and everything, just great) and installed One-Click Ruby
Installer 1.8.4-16 preview3.
Then installed rails, rmagick, radrails, created docs for trunk

ActiveRecord: Oracle metadata loading slow on large database
All,
While attempting to use ActiveRecord against a large database, approx.
1700 tables and 4 million rows, I discovered an inefficiency in
oci_adapter.rb. The problem seems to be the SQL being generated to
lazy-load the columns metadata. "def columns(table_name, name = nil)"
method generates the following SQL:
select column_name, data_type, data_default, nullable,

Code suggestions with Radrails .rhtml view files
anyone been successful with implementing code hints in the Views folder
with radrails in eclipses?
There is a tutorial out there that suggests you edit the jsp folder
(http://www.napcs.com/howto/railsonwindows.html#_Toc111133462)
but i think when you add rails, that jsp folder somehow disappears or
something. i don''t like that idea anyway, cause i don''t like jsp hints

Unable to get Ruby/WEBrick and Eclipse working - newbie
I''m trying to setup RoR on Windows XP with Eclipse using the various
plug-ins RadRails, Ruby tools, Subclipse and I am unable to run an
application within Eclipse or even using command line.
On Eclipse it says in the Console:
=> Booting WEBrick...
and then in the panel it says <terminated> Start WEBrick [Program]
c:\ruby\bin\ruby.exe.
I have tried various versions of Ruby --

Hi folks,
There is a strange problem here, I''ve installed the latest version of
One-Click Ruby installer [1.8.4-16 preview3], everything went fine, and
after that I''ve installed Rails 1.0.
No problem in setup process, but now, when I try run my rails application,
there are many strange things happening.

1.1 ruby schema breaks MySQL FULLTEXT index
If you used MySQL FULLTEXT indexes and just upgraded to Rails 1.1, watch
out for this one. Rails 1.1 now defaults to Ruby as your schema format.
So instead of development-structure.sql, Rake will use schema.rb.
That''s portable and good stuff overall but there is a slight
compatibility issue. Ruby schema doesn''t know how to do FULLTEXT index
syntax for MySQL.
To work around it,

Newbie; Upgrading from Ruby 1.8.2 to Ruby 1.8.4
I am currently running Rails 1.0.0.
I''d like to upgrade from Ruby 1.8.2 to Ruby 1.8.4 on Windows XP.
Do I just download a tarball and unzip it into my Ruby install
directory?
Do I need to do anything to re-register my currently downloaded Gems?
Thanks,
Wes

Ruby 1.8.2 or 1.8.4?
I'm wanting to run Ruby on Rails and I want to do it the cleanest way
possible.
I don't mind using the rubygems package management for the Rails related
dependencies.
But Ruby itself, to my knowledge, cannot be installed as a gem. CentOS
4.3 uses Ruby 1.8.1. Rails requires 1.8.2 or 1.8.4. Neither Dag nor
CentOSPlus have a later version for RHEL.
What's my best bet? An SRPM

Ruby 1.8.4 broke my Rails 1.1
I''ve been running edge_rails on ruby 1.8.2 for a while pretty
successfully. Today, I decided to unfreeze_rails, install the new gem
for 1.1 and then while I was at it, upgrade to Ruby 1.8.4.
I did the whole configure, make, make test, make install.
When I fired up rails, I started getting all sorts of errors:

[Tip] Rails 1.1 / Ruby 1.8.4 - Fixing Syntax Errors on Windows
Hello All ~
As suggested I upgraded Ruby to 1.8.4 along with Rails. My Linux
boxes have been running 1.8.4 and haven''t complained about my source.
On the Windows version however, if you start to see errors like:
Invalid char `\002'' in expression
parse error, unexpected tIDENTIFIER, expecting kEND
Go through your code and replace your tabs with spaces. I use
