Which Linux flavor for a Rails server?
Hi folks, I''m a linux noob, and I''m trying to pick a distro for my rails server. I don''t want to start a flame-war about linux distros! I''m interested in the best distribution for these criteria: 1 - Simplicity of getting ruby and rails set-up (gem updates) 2 - Stability (it is a server, after all) 3 - Support resources (community, and as a fall-back, paid

dispatch on "c" method when passing named arguments
Hi, Many S4 objects in Bioconductor support "combining" via a "c" method. A common use case is to combine a collection of S4 objects stored in a list with the following idiom: do.call("c", list_of_objects) For many users this doesn't return what they expect though, because their 'list_of_objects' is a named list and this seems to "break"

[Rscript] difficulty passing named arguments from commandline
Wanting a commandline solution (for a problem detailed @ http://mailman.unidata.ucar.edu/mailing_lists/archives/netcdfgroup/2012/msg00279.html ) I turned to Rscript, and whacked out the q'n'd https://github.com/TomRoche/GEIA_to_netCDF/blob/master/netCDF.stats.to.stdout.r However it wasn't as quick as hoped, because I spent quite a bit of time figuring out how to pass the arguments.

[LLVMdev] Passing command line arguments to optimization passes
Hi Harel, Several existing passes can take command line arguments. Have a look at lib/Transforms/Scalar/LoopUnrollPass.cpp for example. Its command line arguments are defined using the cl::opt objects. Passing command line arguments using parallel package
Hello, I was wondering if there is a way to pass a custom command line argument to slave processes using the parallel package. I need to do this because I have some logic in my .Rprofile that checks what arguments it was called with using commandArgs() and performs certain actions only if it was given a particular argument. I am running the following code on a Windows PC to start slave processes:

Write a new generator
Hi, Could anyone point me to how to write a generator in Ruby? I was going through code in ruby files at \rails-1.1.2\lib\rails_generatorand found that it reads gems specification to look for generator s present on the system. The way there are tutorials on how to create plugins for Rails, are there any for Generators? At the end of it I should be able to do something like this ruby

[LLVMdev] Passing command line arguments to optimization passes
Hi all, I was wondering if there's any way to pass command line arguments to LLVM optimization passes when run through the opt tool. For example, suppose I register called MyPass, then I want to run opt -load libMyPass.so -MyPass 3 < input.bc and have "3" be available to MyPass as a kind of argv argumnet through some method. Or does it take a major rewrite of the opt tool

Passing arguments from the command line to apps on Mac OS X (Darwine and CrossOver)
Hi all, There's a Windows application I've been running (called "WinBUGS.exe") on an intel Mac OS X (ver. 10.5.5) using both Darwine and CrossOver Pro. My application runs fine under Darwine and also under CrossOver. However, in spite of being able to run these applications using either platform from the command line, I still cannot pass arguments to the application. What I want

Writing R Scripts and passing command line arguments
Hi Guys I am Abhishek, primarily a bioinformatician. I have recently started using a lot of R thanks to some excellent packages available. Lately I have felt the need to batch process few of the R scripts I have been working with and strangely enough I am not able to find a good resource on how to best do this. I did find few old threads on the archives but none convinced me much. So here I am

[LLVMdev] Passing command line arguments to optimization passes
You could make the cl:opt object visible outside one of your passes, and use it in your other passes : in other words, it is a global variable shared between several files. [LLVMdev] Passing command line arguments to optimization passes
A follow-up question: Is there a way to make different passes accept one command line option that will affect all of them? For example, I'd like to have a -optStrength parameter, that can be given to all of my passes simultaneously. Thanks a lot, Guy Arnaud Allard de Grandmaison wrote: > > Hi Harel, > > Several existing passes can take command line arguments. Have a look at

passing command line arguments to 'R CMD BATCH myScript.R'
Hi Community, I have a question about how to pass command line parameters to R script running in the batch mode. The problem is: there is a banch of data files which are to be processed by R script called from a web-server, i.e. in the batch mode. The web server generates data files and passes their names calling 'R CMD BATCH' one by one for every file. Now the question is how to

lang2(...) with two and more arguments
Dear R-help, how could I create an R call in C code using lang2 with 2 and more arguments? I tried this code: SEXP f(SEXP fn, SEXP rho) { SEXP R_fcall, x, y; PROTECT(R_fcall = lang2(fn, R_NilValue)); PROTECT(x = allocVector(REALSXP, 1)); PROTECT(y = allocVector(REALSXP, 1)); REAL(x)[0] = 10; REAL(y)[0] = 20; SETCADR(R_fcall, x); SETCADR(R_fcall, y);

passing a list where names arguments are expected
hi, say i have a function f and i'd like to to call it like this: 1) f(list(a=...,b=...)) but i can't do it, because f is defined as: 2) f<-function(a=NULL,b=NULL){...} is there a way that i can approximate 1), such as mapping list(a=,...b=...) to "list(a=,...b=...)" and then replacing "list" by "f", and then evaluating the expression? thanks.

Interface for package supplied random number generator
Hi, As you probably know, there is a problem with the interface for adding uniform random number generators in R (see by article in R News 5/2, November 2005). There exists a mechanism called "user-supplied" that allows users of R to run their own generator in R. However, there is no such mechanism for package writers. Those who want to add their own generators abuse

Why are the arguments supplied for the command run through ssh interpreted by shell before they are passed to the command on the server side?
