Re: Rails SQL Server adapter
Hey Ryan,
I asked this question awhile back, but any support planned for table
returning functions, or stored procedures?
I''m envisioning basically a mutable model class where you have 1 or more
instance variables defined (with default values) that are used in the
SQL queries as input parameters. When you instantiate the class you can
specifically define these parameters or use the

peg-markdown (C) and rpeg-markdown (ruby gem)
Markdowners:
I've released version 0.4.1 of peg-markdown, a C implementation of
markdown. peg-markdown uses Ian Piumarta's peg/leg parser generator to
generate a parser from a parsing expression grammar (PEG). You can
inspect the grammar for markdown at
http://github.com/jgm/peg-markdown/tree/HEAD/markdown_parser.leg
peg-markdown now provides both a C library and a standalone

Postfix Questions
I've been running sendmail since the beginning of my online time.
1. Did I see that postfix can run sendmail milters?
2. If so, did I read that postfix can run these separately for inbound
vs. outbound?
3. Can it run like a rbl blacklist on inbound and not outbound?
4. If the above is true, does this require separate configurations of
postfix or is it already set to allow this out of the

Treetop or like grammar for Markdown (in Ruby)
Has anyone seen any attempts to give Markdown a PEG (parsing
expressions grammar) recognizable by some ruby PEG parser generator
grammar like Treetop?

Changing adapters in ActiveRecord does not change the generated sql
If I establish a new connection with a new adapter (ie. switch from mysql to
postgresl) the generated sql is still mysql specific. I tried all sorts of
reset methods on AR::Base but to no avail. There must be something being
memoized on ActiveRecord base that has to do with the adapter and it doesn''t
get cleared when you establish a connection with a new adapter.
I know this

Is there a non sql active_record db adapter out there ?
Hi,
i''m just starting to develop an active_record db adapter for an
in-memory oo database (purple). This will obviously require quite some
work in the Base class of active_record and so I''m wondering if anyone
has done this already?
After some searching I found the ackbar adapter for kirbybase db. And
while I sure will be lifing code from there, I''d really imagine

Rails SQL generation (Firebird adapter) - can someone explain ...
I see some possible issues with the SQL that is being generated by the
firebird adapter.
Every SQL is being generated on the fly by concatenating strings.
Can someone please explain why the SQL is being generated the way it is?
I cannot use this in real life for a couple of reasons:
1. This introduces a security hole because a user, accidentally or
deliberately, could potentially submit a

Proposal: Deprecate ADO support in the SQL Server adapter
The SQL Server adapter can currently operate in two modes, ADO and
ODBC, each of which uses a different interface to access the db. The
ADO interface is currently the default, while ODBC can be specified as
an option.
I propose this situation is reversed, and that use of the ADO
interface is deprecated, if not removed altogether. Here are some
reasons, I'm sure there are more:
a) ADO uses

Request for those familiar with internals of the Oracle, SQL Server, and DB2 adapters
I''ve made a research patch [1] for Active Record which creates a new
interface for working with limit and offset parameters, and it needs
implementations for the commercial databases. The patch is described
in detail in trac ticket #795 [2].
I''d greatly appreciate any contributions you can make as soon as
possible so that this fix can make it in to the Rails 1.0 release.

how to get ASUS USB-N13 802.11n net adapter working on 5.5?
first, the short form of the question -- has anyone got that
wireless adapter working on centos 5.5 and associated with an access
point that uses WPA/WPA2 security?
and the details.
in a classroom where there is *no* wired networking at all, all PCs
have only that wireless net adapter, which works fine on windows but,
after installing centos 5.5, unsurprisingly, we have no networking.

I'm not sure what do you mean by "wireless nat network". Isn't the point
of NAT that it is independent of device that the traffic goes out from?

Mixed bonding and vlan on plain adapter possible?
Hello,
I have a CentOS 7.3 + updates server where my configuration arises from the
need to connect via iSCSI to a Dell PS Series storage array and Dell not
supporting bonding.
So that I need to use 2 nics on the same vlan to connect to iSCSI portal IP
and then use multipath.
Also, the iSCSI lan is on a dedicated vlan
I have only these 2 x 10Gbit adapters and I also need to put other vlans on
them

Firebird adapter next steps
I saw that the Firebird adapter was merged to the trunk last night...
thanks Jeremy!
Since I last submitted the fb patch (11/1), I''ve been working on
several improvements, including:
1) I reorganized the code to match the newer conventions used in the
other adapters (mostly just changed the order and grouping of methods,
and added some "section header" comments).
2) An updated,

Dumper, mySQL adapter and TIMESTAMP ... something strange ?
Hi,
As explained by MiKael Navarro in the following post
(http://www.ruby-forum.com/topic/55662#new) it seems that there''s a
problem with the way the mySQL adapter treats the TIMESTAMP column.
Actually, when an SQL schema with for example:
created_on TIMESTAMP
is dumped into ruby schema, it will lead to:
t.column "created_on", :timestamp, :limit => 14
but if we
