Eager loading problem. Help greately appreciated
Each Timesheet has an employee. An employee has a division and a location. I want to find all the timesheets with a status of 2. I then iterate over the timesheet collection and print the timesheet name, employee name, employee divison name, and employee location name. Like so: for t in Timesheet.find(:all,:conditions=>"status=2",:include=>:employee) puts timesheet.date

Showing rows on a page
This is my first rails program and I?m having trouble figuring out how to show rows on the page when there may not be rows in the database. There are 3 tables, employees, cost_codes and timesheet, I will simplify them when describing them later on. When an employee logs in, I would like to pull up their timesheet, which should consist of one row per cost code. So timesheet would look a

select vs. select_tag
I have a "Users" object and a "Timesheets" object. Each timesheet entry belongs to a User, which is selected from a drop-down list. The timesheet has a user_id field. (The user needs to have an option to select a different user due to the way our system works.) If i use the "select" object, which is bound to the Timesheet model, using this code: <%= select

Rails bug? Conditions on associations ignored by eager loading
I''m looking for someone to confirm the following as a bug in Rails 1.0 before I post it to Trac. If I use eager loading on an association that has conditions defined, the conditions are ignored. The following example illustrates the problem. I have two tables: create_table "blogs", :force => true do |t| t.column "name", :string end create_table

New Rails App: iZepto Timesheets
The software consultancy that I work for has recently released a timesheet/time tracking system written in Rails. It''s called iZepto and we are very keen to get your feedback. You''ll find it at: http://www.izepto.com We initially wrote it for our own consultancy work (we weren''t happy with what else was out there) but have now turned it into a hosted service that

[Question} how best to use attribute driven db with Rails
I designed out a mostly attribute driven database. Originally i was going to use PHP, but have now decided to use RoR. Being able to use the built in OR functionality would be nice, but I am not sure how well it melds with attribute dbs. If anyone can give me some pointers, I would really appreciate it (especially since this is my first endeavor and on an important project as well).

Apache 2.2, ProxyPass and HTTPS

Cascading views?
For some fairly generic views and controller stuff I''d like to have a standard view, say app/views/shared/list.rhtml, and a way to override it per controller, app/views/mymodel/list.rhtml. I think I''ve read of a similar feature before, but I''m not really sure. I may be confusing things with engines and productize. Has someone implemented it for plain Rails apps?

Non model cascading selects
In my model I have a city_id. ON the form I am using a cascading select to select the state, which then does a remote_submit to get the list of cities (and hence the city_id) for the selected state. The problem that I am having is that if I make a selection, hit SUBMIT and validation fails, the original selected state/city is now reset (ie, the values aren''t saved). Since they

Nested/cascading "switch" statements: possible?
I'm lazy and decided that I didn't have the time to hack up a few servers for testing, which I'll probably have to do if nobody answers this mail, but it's late in this part of the world and I'm tired. :-) I'm wondering if the use of the "switch" statement can be nested, such that system A has a "switch" statement that points dialplan inclusion to
