Status of Timezone support / Handeling DTSTART; TZID="(GMT-05.00) Eastern Time (US & Canada)":20080107T123000
I can not tell from the docs or from the mailing list what is the state of timezone support in the iCalendar package? If I want to parse an iCalendar file that has non utc dstarts and dends will it convert those times to UTC or otherwise allow me to do that? When I tried to parse an iCalendar input file started off with something like this: BEGIN:VCALENDAR METHOD:REQUEST

Application error (Rails)
After I attempted to add ActionMailer functionality, it gave the "Application error (Rails)" and now, everything on my site works, except for the part where the Actionmailer ''would have'' sent the email. I took that out now, re-uploaded the file, and ran "killall -USR1 dispatch.fcgi" and still nothing. Everything else works, except that. Any idea what

Why are big data.frames slow? What can I do to get it fas ter?
Extracting from data frame one element at a time the way you did is expensive. I.e., test[i, 6] is slower than test$whatever[i]. As an example: > dat <- data.frame(a = sample(LETTERS, 1e6, replace=TRUE), b=1:1e6, + c=rep("A", 1e6)) > dat$a <- as.character(dat$a) > dat$c <- as.character(dat$c) > > system.time( + for(i in 1:10) { + dat[i, 3]

read.spss and time/date information
I don't use SPSS but following through on your detective work can provide the likely answer. First note that both date numbers are evenly divisible by the number of seconds in a day, i.e. 24*60*60. This suggests that these numbers are seconds since some origin. Since we know "2003/02/11" corresponds to 13264300800 we deduce that the origin must be spss.orig <-

Created_at date/time if off by UTC-5 hours ?
Hello - My model has created_at and updated_at which get set automatically, as expected, but the time is 5 hours off. For example, if I create a new record at 7:15:25 AM the created_at time shows 12:15:25. I suspect this has to do with my time zone (Eastern Time, United States). But if I do a Time.now, it shows the correct time. Does the Timestamp class use a different zone than the Time

is putting zone paths on zfs supported in Solaris 10 u5/u6 ?? Documentation on that? - 66124245
ZFS experts! cu is looking for _documentation_ about putting zone paths on zfs. cu is running 5.10 KP 137111-06. he needs to make sure u5 kp is ok with zone roots. Also has FSs mounted via legacy. So...anybody have documentation on which u5 or u6 of Solaris (NOT OpenSolaris) supports zfs, if any update, for zone paths? -Brian -------- Original Message -------- Subject: RE: Sun#

create() chopping off time zone
I''m doing: item = Item.create(:added=>''Thu, 26 Jan 2006 21:18:59 GMT'', ...) But it gets saved in the (PostgreSQL) database as: 2006-01-26 21:18:59-07 Looking at the log, Rails is inserting ''added'' as ''2006-01-26 21:18:59''. How can I get it to preserve the time zone? If the original timestamp gets passed to PostgreSQL as is,

timezone conversion difficulties with the new US daylight saving time switch over
I'm having difficulties with daylight saving times in US time zones. (Apologies for the long post, but the problem seems subtle and complex, unless I'm doing something completely wrong, in which case it should be evident from the first 10 lines below.) This is what I see, using a (slightly modified) example from ?as.POSIXlt : > as.POSIXlt((d <- Sys.time()), "EST5EDT") #

How can I replace the Linux scrolling text during boot-up with a splash image?
I need some help in determining how to have a color splash image display in place of the Linux scrolling-text during the boot-up process on an embedded Linux device using Syslinux. The kernel used is a stripped-down version of Linux (kernel 2.6.29), which has been custom configured. The distros used are Ubuntu Linux 10.04 (development platform) and X-Linux I'm very new at this and need some

Voicemail envelope time is 4 hours ahead
I'm running a recent CVS build under Solaris 10. In the shell than I'm running the Asterisk console I have TZ=US/Eastern and in my voicemail.conf I have tz=eastern and eastern=America/New_York|'vm-received' Q 'digits/at' IMp. The voicemail envelope information seems to be exactly 4 hours ahead. No matter what I try I can't seem to find the cause. Any ideas? Frank

timezone tests and R-devel
The return value of Sys.time() today with a timezone of US/Eastern is unchanged between 4.0.3-patched and devel, but on devel the following test fails all.equal(x, as.POSIXlt(x)) with x = Sys.time() This means that devel does not complete make tests (failure on tests/reg-tests-2.R) It is entirely possible that it is an error on my end, I use export TZ="US/Eastern" but I have been

timezone tests and R-devel
So let me try to raise this issue once more, and perhaps be more clear about what I think the issue is.. In my opinion there is now a bug in make check in R-development (tested today with r79361). As I see it, I specify a reasonable TZ environment variable and this leads to make check emitting an error. Best, Kasper On Fri, Oct 2, 2020 at 11:28 AM Kasper Daniel Hansen < kasperdanielhansen
