Webrick and Lighttpd
I just went thru the hivelogic article to get everything installed on my
new mac. I then decided to run thru the ADC Rails article. In the
article it says to run ''script/server'' which will start lighttpd if
installed or webrick if not. When I do it, I get webrick not lighttpd. I
followed the hivelogic article word for word and everything else seems
to be working fine. Is

File Upload Problems With Apache and Lighttpd But Not Webrick...
I am having trouble uploading files through a form when using Apache
(production) or Lighttpd (development). The odd thing is that when I force
script/server to load Webrick, the upload works just fine on the same
code-base.
When it fails, the upload just sits there forever. Some browsers eventually
return an error code, others spin for a long time... Anyway, it never
recovers.
The file is a

AJAX not working with lighttpd but working with webrick
I''m using a little bit of AJAX code in my rails project and it''s causing
quite a headache. I''m using webrick to for testing and development and
the AJAX code works. Rails generates the javascript code inside the view
and everything is fine. But when I test it under lighttpd which is what
I will be using for production it doesn''t work. When I view the source

File upload works with webrick, but fails in lighttpd 1.4.11
I''ve been trying to add a basic file upload feature (just based on the
Rails Recipes example), but I find that it only works with the webrick
server and not my lighttpd 1.4.11 server.
I''m running Rails 1.1.2 on OSX. The upload silently fails with both
firefox and Safari, even with the useragent hack and with any size of
file/image. My lighttpd config is pretty standard as

Relative paths in Webrick vs. lighttpd
Hi, everyone. I''ve got a development server running Webrick, and a
production server running under lighttpd. The following two lines of
code work just fine in the development server, but bombs out on the
production server with a "file not found" error:
label_base_jpeg = "app/views/price_books/label.jpg"
canvas =
Magick::ImageList.new(label_base_jpeg)

App running fine on Webrick, ActiveRecord::ConnectionNotEstablished in lighttpd
My app runs fine on webrick, but I get a
ActiveRecord::ConnectionNotEstablished when I try to run it on
lighttpd. Here''s the app''s lighttpd config:
$HTTP["host"] =~ "(www\.)?mysite\.com" {
server.document-root = "/home/pergesuteore/public/"
server.error-handler-404 = "/dispatch.fcgi"
fastcgi.server = ( ".fcgi" =>

Basic Auth in WEBrick
Yo all,
All I want to accomplish at this moment in time is simple password
protection around a rails application in development using WEBrick on
a custom port. Just one account would be fine.
I have done an extensive Google hunt for an example, but I all find
are code chunks for starting WEBrick such as:
realm = "Gnome realm"
start_webrick {|server|
htpasswd

Lighttpd now works for production. Development is broken?
I''ve finally gotten lighttpd working for my production instance (SUSE
10.0 with SSL).
(Had to install the fcgi dev toolkit, the SUSE 10 ruby-fcgi rpm, and
the fcgi gem. I''m not positive all 3 were required, but that is what
I did.)
Now the devel instance of my app is broken.
I''m not sure how to fix it.
Previously I was using WEBrick for both devel and production.

how can i set the default protocol of WEBrick to https?
On my server, stunnel is running to accept HTTPS (port 443) connection
from clients and redirect them to localhost:80. And on port 80 of my
server, WEBrick is running to accept HTTP connection.
In such situation, WEBrick generates URLs beginning with ''http://'',
not with ''https://''. So one can access to ''https://myserver/'', but

script/server lighttpd on Windows
Has anyone been able to get script/server to successfully use lighttpd
on a Windows box? When I try to start the server I get:
PROBLEM: Lighttpd is not available on your system (or not in your path)
So then I add "C:\lighttpd\sbin" to the path for the console session,
and it still fails with the same error.
If anyone has some success with this I sure would like to know. Webrick

Lighttpd Problems
Hi everybody,
I was using ruby with Lighttpd just fine, and all of a sudden I''m having
a problem. I''ve exhausted google - nobody else seems to have this
problem.
when running script/server, I get:
=> Booting lighttpd (use ''script/server webrick'' to force WEBrick)
=> Rails application started on http://0.0.0.0:3000
=> Call with -d to detach

Weird problem with script/server, lighttpd, and FreeBSD
I installed lighttpd from ports on my FreeBSD-5 system last night, wanting
to play with that instead of WEBrick for development work.
I installed it, and ran script/server, and got this:
[minter@carlton discostu]$ script/server
=> Booting lighttpd (use ''script/server webrick'' to force WEBrick)
=> Rails application started on http://0.0.0.0:3000
=> Call with -d to

starting webrick from ruby (tar2rubyscript.rb)
I am using tar2rubyscript to package up a rails application and run it
as one file from the server.
If you run script/server and have lighttpd install it will start lighty
instead of webrick. So, thanks to Erik Veenstra''s suggestion, I add
ARGV.unshift("webrick") to the init.rb file to force webrick to start:
ARGV.unshift("webrick")
load "script/server"

Is Webrick good enough?
Hi all,
On the rails list I''ve seen that it''s hard to integrate Rails with Apache
(especially apache2), that it''s hard to change the default port (3000), and
that Apache runs Rails stuff slowly.
Is it reasonable to run Rails stuff on Webrick while simultaneously running
other stuff on Apache? How does one simultaneously run two rails applications
on Webrick, when

Lighttpd & VB.Net HTTPWEBREQUEST
Hi guys/gals,
I don''t know if anyone can answer this, and this post may belong in a
VB.Net forum, but my question is more for lighttpd. I have a .net app
that sends a HTTPWEBREQUEST to the webserver. Then my def saves this
hit to a mysql db. In webrick, this works fine, but not in lighttpd. I
was wondering if anyone has ever done this or does anyone know if
lighttpd does not accept
