Support for foreign keys in Migrations
Is there any work being done to add support for defining foreign keys in ActiveRecord Migrations? If not is it something that people would find useful or do most people here believe in the "Application Database" style over the "Integration Database" style [1] as defined by Fowler? I''d love to see support for foreign keys in Migrations. For selfish reasons

BackgrounDRb start error
Hi, I''ve got a Rails 2.2.2 app and I''m trying to get BackgrounDRb running. I''m just following the simple example in Advanced Rails Recipes. I installed BackgrounDRb from Git, installed the packet and chronic gems, ran ''rake backgroundrb:setup'', generated a worker, and then tried to run ''script/backgroundrb start'' but I get:

Fatal: Unknown scheme: SHA512-CRYPT. On a Mac-mini
Running postfix+dovecot+mysql on a mac-mini, and trying to solve this puzzle. Is this a Mac issue?, a MySQL issue? or something I haven't configured in? You can see from the output of the samples shows in the first case, that SHA512-CRYPT seems to be Unknown. The code I used is from a Linux based tutorial on setting up Postfix+Dovecot+MySQL on a site. Everything is generally going ok, apart

only checking certain parameters for a method
I''m writing a test where I only care about one of the parameters being sent to the method, does anyone think having a way to say that any value for a parameter which I don''t care about is valid? I''m thinking something like: def test_charge_is_for_10_bucks gateway = test_gateway member = Member.new member.credit_card_number = "1"

Very slow domU network performance
I set up a domU as a backup server, but it has very, very poor network performance with external computers. I ran some tests with iperf and found some very weird results. Using iperf, I get these approximate numbers (the left column is the iperf client and the right column is the iperf server): domU --> domU 1.77 Gbits/sec (using 127.0.0.1) domU --> domU 1.85 Gbits/sec (using domU

OT: iBook or MacBook Pro?
Well, the worm has turned and I think I may actually get an Apple ;P. But I can''t decide which one. Pros and cons: 14" iBook: + modem (for when broadband kicks out, or on the road and there''s no WIFI) + screen is probably big enough (though I currently have a 15" Dell) + doesn''t get as hot as the MacBook + almost half the cost + less likely to get stolen -

Help needed getting rsync to copy from windows to mac
I'm trying to use rsync to copy files from a Microsoft Windows machine (XP, with cygwin) to a macintosh (10.5.8, PPC). I can''t seem to decide if I should splurge and get a 4x box for 25 dollars more than a 2x at a slightly higher clockspeed. 112952-001-B1-06 Proliant 6500 - 4xPIII Xeon500MHz/1MB, 256MB 100738-003-B1-06 Proliant 5500 - 2xPIIIXeon550MHz/512KB, 256MB Any suggestions? OT: Debugging iBook --- help
This is way OT, but here goes... I''ve had an iBook for 2 days now and am debugging a web built with prototype/script aculo / windows / etc... I have no real experience on a Mac. Occasionally, there''s no better way to debug JavaScript than an alert in a loop... Once I have the information information I want from the alert, the loop may want to execute another 300 times. I
