PCI USB Passthrough on Kernel 3.5 and 3.6 not working (HVM or PVM)
Hi Xenners, I have tried to upgrade to kernel 3.5 and experienced the USB/PCI passthrough problem. This has not been "fixed" in 3.6 either. I do not know if this is qemu, xen or kernel related. I am using Xen 4.2 final and Xen 4.3-unstable to test. DomU is Windows 7 64 bit or Linux Fedora 17. In Windows, I get the little yellow triangle with Code 10 (I know this means nothing...

Package crashes R under Windows Vista
Dear all, Please, please I really need your help, since I am not able to solve the problem myself: It seems that until now most Windows users of my Bioconductor package "xps" use Windows XP, but recently a user tried to use it on Windows Vista where it crashed R immediately. Since I assume that some users may migrate to the upcoming Windows 7 where the problem will be the same, I

Mapping pci resources for graphics passthrough
Hi all, I''ve been trying to understand the pci_setup function in hvmloader.c in Xen unstable. I''m kinda lost at Line 328. base = (resource->base + bar_sz - 1) & ~(bar_sz - 1) I''d appreciate if someone could explain to me why base is calculated this way. Specifically, I don''t understand the bitwise AND with the one''s complements of

Printing from Vista/W2K8 with 3.4 Print Server
I have a Samba 3.4.0 print server with WinXP, Win2K3, Vista, and Win2K8 clients. The print server functions fine with WinXP and Win2K3. The drivers show up properly and if you look in server properties from those clients you can see the Samba printer port, the drivers, and print forms. However under Vista and Win2K8 server I get nothing. The clients say that the drivers aren't

USB passthrough: flexible configuration in XML-file needed
Hi, I need a flexible USB passthrough of a USB-device. If the device is turned off by the current switch (230Volt) the VM should start and not claim that the USB device is left. Using: <devices> ? <hostdev mode='subsystem' type='usb'> <source> <vendor id='0x152a'/> <product id='0x8180'/>

Static USB port passthrough is not possible
Hello, I am currently trying to configure of forwarding devices from specific USB ports which is supported by QEMU. But I don't see any support from libvirt side. Due to libvirt security it occurs to be impossible to passthrough devices from specific bus+port combination. As workaround I may suggest only writing udev rules which use specific script which adds devices to running domains.

Some questions about PCI-passthrough for HVM(Non-IOMMU)
Hello, I saw some patches about PCI-passthrough for HVM(non-IOMMU) and I am interested in it. I want to assign my graphics card(nVidia GeForce 7900GS) to an HVM domain (Vista) in order to run 3D-intensive work(for example, 3D-games). What I want to ask is that is it really possible to pass the graphics card to HVM domain running Vista now? That is, have anyone ever successfully

USB passthrough for usb wireless nic adapter
Hi all, I am trying to use usb passthrough for an usb wireless adapter to a kvm guest under a CentOS7 host. Guest can connect to an AP and sometimes receives an IP and sometimes not. But when and IP address is assigned by an AP (and defaultroute), nothing works. If I try to resolv any host like for example www.google.com, there is no result ... Trying to ping 8.8.8.8 doesn't works also.

problems with USB and PCI passthrough on Debian Lenny
Greetings, I have Xen installation with all domains (dom0+domU) being Debian Lenny. I''d like to pass my usb printer to one of those domU domains. I couldn''t make usb passthrough to work, so I decided that I will pass the whole usb controller to the domU. It didn''t worked either. I have read tons of internet howtos only to find the solutions proposed don''t

USB PCI Passthrough System Instability
I recently managed to get PCI Passthrough to work for a Windows HVM operating under Xen 3.2 on Fedora 8. I needed to get USB ports passed through to the Windows VM with full hot plug functionality and I was able to get that working using a Dell 755 with a USB PCI expansion card. However, when trying to bring the box up to an operational status status I have encountered some rather severe

Vista SP1-rc1 appears to break against Samba-3.0.27a
We've got nicely ADS integrated Samba-3.0.27a servers that are working fine with Win2000 through to standard Vista. However, we are starting to test RC1 of Vista SP1 and discovered that once applied, that workstation cannot connect to Samba server shares - unless the share is open - i.e. no "valid user" style settings. The moment one is defined, Vista fails to connect and pops up an

Vista Ulimate joining Samba-Domain
Hi list, I have a question concerning a MS Vista Ultimate-Client which I already have joined with a Samba-Domain (3.0.26a), and I do hope that anyone can help me or can give me a hint where to proceed my search. My problem is, that the logon process on this Vista-Client is very long (~1-2 min.). After switching to the detailed logon view, I can see, that Vista displays the (german) messages

Samba printer and Vista
Hi, I have set-up a couple of printers and uploaded the driver on Samba server. Now Windows XP clients can add the printers and the driver is automatically installed. I have a problem with Vista clients, when trying to automatically install the driver it gets and error: "Windows cannot connect to the printer. Operation could not be completed (error 0x0003e3)" I suspect the reason

Re: LXC + USB passthrough = Operation not permitted
So, if I remove the hostdev element related to the USB device, running `lsusb` and `usb-devices` inside the container lists the proper device, but I do not see the appropriate character device bus for the Android device under /dev/bus/usb. We are not entirely sure that `lsusb` and `usb-devices` queries the appropriate location - it somehow gets information from the host, not the guest container,
